It has grown into a very fulfilling and seriously FUN full time career for my husband and I. We’ve gotten so much helpful advice from top food bloggers over the years and we are so happy to be able to do the same for you. We’ve found that the most successful people are also the most willing to help others. How to Start a Food Blog - A Recipe for Success in 3 easy steps from @natashaskitchen

First of all , I wanted to share a really great resource with you that I think would be super helpful for many of you.food-blogger-pro-in-post
If you have a blog or are considering one (even if it’s not a food blog), you need to look into Food Blogger Pro. It’s a membership website for food bloggers that shows you how to set up and grow your food blog step-by-step. It has 250+ video tutorials to teach you everything from:

  1. Starting a blog (step-by-step video instructions!)
  2. Building traffic and growing your blog
  3. Improving your food photography, and editing photos
  4. Social media setup and growth
  5. Utilizing all the “essential tools” for your blog (Google analytics, managing giveaways)

Food Blogger Pro is a membership-based website so you have the option of a monthly membership or yearly membership. It will take  your blog to the next level and that’s why I’m so excited to share it with you!

 (Step 1): Webhost & Naming YOUR Blog

1. The two biggest factors to consider when choosing a hosting company are: reputation and customer service. We recommend Bluehost and signing up is easy peasy. If you’re just starting out, I suggest the least expensive plan and upgrading over time as your blog grows. If  your blog is taking off and growing in traffic, consider LiquidWeb, which is a premium hosting service ( a little spendier but WELL WORTH the extra cost). We are currently with LiquidWeb and have a dedicated server.

 Bluehost is a well-known and reputable hosting company that  has been in business a loooong time. It’s also hugely beneficial to be able to talk to a live person 24-7 if you need help.  Their hosting package also includes a free domain name and there is no setup fee.

If you are serious about your blog, take some time to brainstorm a domain name. Pick something that is catchy, relevant and easy to remember. Run your ideas by your closest friends or fam and get feedback. I think my sister Alla gave me the idea for NatashasKitchen.com! Head on over to bluehost and plug in your ideas. (Step 2): Installing WordPress

After you’ve signed up with Bluehost, you will need to install WordPress (a blogging software). We have used Wordpress from the birth of our blog 5 years ago and love it because of it’s simplicity; it’s very user friendly and installation is a breeze.
(A). Once you’ve logged in to Bluehost, locate the Website builders section and select “WordPress.”

(B). Once you click on WordPress, you’ll see a screen with an “Install” button. Click it.

(C). Plug in your very own domain name and click “Check Domain”
9-Install WP
(D). Mark that you’ve read the terms and conditions and click “Install Now”
10-WP Login11-Installation
(E). Now at the top of your screen, you’ll see a box that says “View Credentials” Click it. This will provide you with your Login information so you can login to your blog and get rollin’, so jot it down and keep it in a safe place.  To access your blog as the owner, type your Admin URL into your browser, then enter your Username and Password when prompted. You’re there. You’re officially a blogga. Congrats!! 

(Step 3): Choosing a Theme or Design for your Blog

Thesis Theme for WordPressthesis-125x125-1 – We started out with Thesis and used it for about 2 years. Genesis is very popular Theme as well.

Free Themes for WordPresswordpress-logo – WordPress has tons of free themes available if you’re not ready for purchasing a “premium” theme right away. Start with one of the free themes without spending a lot of money right off the bat. Please do some research and check the theme’s rating before downloading  and install it onto your blog. Avoid themes with three stars or less.

Cre8d redesigned our blog in August 2015 and it was blog changing! Their communication and work is fantastic. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend them; worth every penny. Creating an Income With Your Blog

    Hey Natasha! I was thinking of starting a food blog because I love cooking and sharing recipies 🙂 but a lot of the recipies I share are from “all recipies” which is where individuals share their recipes, sometimes I look at a couple of top rated recipies and blend them together into 1, is that considered copying? I guess the big question is are you allowed to use recipies that you did not create on your own from scratch?
    And let’s I do find a recipie I like is changing 1 ingredient considered my own recipie then? Sorry for any confusion if there is! Reply

    Hi I just want to say that I love your blog , I did so many recipes and they always been a success . What computer do you use for your blog , Apple or PC also what camera are you using to take all this beautiful photos as well as video
