12 Days Till Christmas: Knotty Daughters Giveaway (Winner Announced!)

This post may contain affiliate links. Read my disclosure policy.

We’re counting down till Christmas and will be doing tons of awesome giveaways; over $500 worth of prizes! The giveaways won’t last long so check back daily to make sure you haven’t missed one! We’ll kick things off with this lovely “Bakin’ Babe” and “Lil’ Bakin’ Babe” set of matching aprons from Knotty Daughters.

Congratulations to our Winner:

#14: Kika who wrote:  “My biggest Kitchen disaster is probably always with flower :-) too many examples lol. Instagrammed by Karolina_Dar ;-)”  I’ll be sending you an email; you’ll have 72 hours to reply from the time I send the email – Natasha

Knotty Daughters graciously sent me this set to try out. I was so impressed with their attention to detail. It was clearly made with T.L.C. and these aprons would make someone very happy on Christmas morning (they are unique and just darling!). I don’t have a daughter and my son would have probably worn it as a cape, so my niece gets the mini apron for Christmas (good thing she’s only 4 and can’t read my blog yet).

Look at that bow! Swoon! Note: this is a rare posterior view, probably never to be repeated. ha ha.

See! There’s TLC written all over it! They even have a “knotty checklist” to make sure each apron is perfect.

Make sure to visit Knotty Daughters Website to thank them for sponsoring this giveaway and check out all their awesome apron designs. You can also follow Knotty Daughters on Facebook (see additional apron selections in their Facebook Shop),and get to know them on Twitter.

I always wish I have an apron 🙂 cause for some reason when I cook my T-shirt on the tummy always gets dirty, but I still didn’t buy an apron for myself, it’s a good idea to win one! My biggest disaster was when I was baking an apple pie and my 2 year old daughter really wanted to see how I pour it in the pan, so I put the pan on the floor and poured it while she was standing near me, when I finished she wanted to come closer and tripped and fell with her hands in the pan, she got so scared and I ended up cleaning the mess. Reply

My biggest disaster happened when I baked a brownie-like pie in a countertop stove. I asked my hubby to watch it, while I was gone to the store. Than, when I came back, I found it out of the oven halfway baked and the house full of burning odor. Well…… It raised while baking and reached the top of the stove! Then started burning:-( I then always used conventional oven))– Reply

My biggest disaster was when I was using parchment paper to line the inside of a pan. Well my oven is kinda old and it has its few quirks so I definetly started to freak out when it started to smoke!! I couldnt figure out what was happening cause it was only smoking, no fire or anything…Then it finally hit me that it must have been the parchment paper cause that was the first time I had ever used it!! I had to air out the entire kitchen, living and dining room.lol. Reply

i guess my main kitchen disasters are not as much as sticky dirty ones but where i would forget an ingredient or two in a recipe while baking some cake….and then when i would take the cake out…..it sure looked odd or tasted funny. however, since my two little boys are getting in the helping stage, (age 3 & 4) they are next to me seems like 24/7. one kitchen disaster i remember is when we were working with flour and one of my sons decides to blow on the flour…..WOW that flour flew everywhere, including his eyes, nose, mouth, face and everywhere around him. ahh the joy and fun working with children in the kitchen! Reply

My worst kitchen disaster has to be when I put my baking dish on the back burner on the stove to cool. I was using the front burners to cook and accidentally turned on the bake burners. My dish cracked and spilled the contents everywhere Reply

    hello!
love the current giveaway! my bf is in the kitchen w/o an apron and i’m hoping to change his mind about it as he makes a bigger mess cooking than I do baking!
my most recent baking flop: I made pizza dough in the morning before rushing off to work….arrived to work only to realize i forgot to wear an apron & had flour all over me.
That eve I come home & the dough didn’t rise. not only did I leave my kitchen in a state of mini disaster in the morning, but I had to start all over again while starved… 🙂 Reply

My kitchen disaster story was cooking broccoli and cheddar soup for the first time from a recipe I got online. I was newly married and not an experienced cook, so wanted to try something new to impress my new hubby with my cooking skills. Needless to say the recipe was a huge fail, turned out tasting horrible with a gritty texture to it that made me cringe. My husband was eating it with a smile on his face not wanting to make me feel bad. I took a couple bites and could not believe that he was still eating it. I had to tell him that it was ok not to like it, poor guy would’ve finished the whole bowl if I didn’t say anything. Things he does for love! After 7 years of marriage we still remember this as my “THE worst dish” and it always makes us laugh. I don’t think that I could ever cook anything that bad again. Thanks to your blog I’ve gotten more yummy recipes and even getting really good at baking. Thank you! Reply

Three of my husband’s cousins were over from out of state. I made them beautiful belgian waffles for breakfast. I wanted to impress them, since it was their first time over since we wed. I put out some syrup, jam, and sour cream. Well, my baby needed to be fed so I asked my husband to take over while I went upstairs to feed my son. He found some whipped cream in a can (which we use next to never) and set it out. So they all put it on their waffles. Then someone realized that it was way expired, so they were grossed out, left their food, and went out for breakfast. I was humiliated! Way to impress the guests : ( Reply

My worst cooking disaster was when I was about 12. My mom was teaching me how to bake a cake. I had an “I got this all figured out” attitude, confident that this was going to be quick and easy. I didn’t heed my mothers warning about pouring the flour in slowly at a low speed. I dumped a cup of flour into the mixing bowl, and turned up the speed to high. The whole thing puffed up within seconds, and I was covered in flour. I was so embarrassed, as my mom stood to the side, laughing at me! I definitely learned my lesson since then. 🙂 Reply

Here is my story, Natasha !

my biggest disaster was when I set my kitchen on fire. Yes, I was ready to fry pirozki , left the pen on a stove and went to say something to my nubby…..and forgot about it for a while. Ran to the kitchen but it was too late….it took me a moment to realize that the hood over the stove is melting….In a great panic i grabbed the pen and was running around not knowing what to do. Good thing my husband was there otherwise I would probably burn down the whole house. Burned my hands really bad.

It was one of those crazy moments which I cannot explain even with my extraordinary woman’s logic! Having a cute apron on, would definitely keep in the kitchen and renovation would be avoided!!!

My biggest kitchen mess was when I was making a cake for my son’s birthday. It had to be perfect so I got all the tools and was trying to cut it super evenly and got crumbs everywhere AND THEN i tried to crumb coat it (you know how you put on a layer of frosting and let it settle before putting more on) and all the crumbs from my “perfect cutting got mixed into the frosting and my “crumb coat” was literally covered in crumbs and even when i tried to add a second layer of frosting.. more crumbs. crumbs everywhere. Reply

Well everyday with kids in my kitchen disasters are bound to happen. But the worst I can think of would probably be the first time I made borsch. I was shredding the beets and it didn’t even come to mind that it would stain every thing it came in contact with! My white shirt, counter top and even my finger nails!! So i cook and bake alot and of course i burn things once in a while and mess things up completely! But the one time i remember the best is when i was making borsht and i was putting the potatoes in the pot and one fell in way too fast and splashed the boiling water onto my stomache! I had a burn the size of an egg on my stomache which blistered the same day! It was sooo painful!! I learned my lesson thats for sure!! Reply

So cute, and my little one would love it too even though he is a boy 🙂 I had so many disasters happened in my kitchen especially after getting married and being an amateur cook at the time. One that comes to my mind is right before Christmas i was making your Tres Leches cake and instead of turning the oven to off after it was done, i turned it to broil literally seconds later i turn around and my cake is on fire, there is smoke everywhere and my fire alarms going off in the middle of the night (they are very loud too). Well, in the end i just had to make another cake (good thing it is simple to make) 🙂 Reply

I have 2 kiddos and between me baking and tending to them I forgot to add the eggs. My guests were already over with tea poured and all waiting. I go to the oven to take it out after the exciting oven beep, and the cake just looks miserable and sticky, I was so sad and embarrassed to tell my guests. Approns are adorable! Reply

But the biggest one is that i made some bread in the machine and left somewhere for like 4 hours, and when i came back, our home was full of smoke, it was awful. When we looked into the machine, the dough was everywhere and started getting burned. I think it was because i have put too much milk. Reply

My biggest disaster is attempting to make a cake for the first time in my new kitchen aid mixer I got from my husband. I was not wearing an apron. As I was adding flour to the dough , sure enough the speed was too high and the flour got all over my cupboards, counters, ME, and everything in sight. It was just one big, puffy mess. My husband constantly asked me to make garlic rubbed tongue. It might sound gross ( and I think it is) but just because I’m such an awesome wife, I decided to give it a try. So I started to boil the tongue and it needed about 30-40 min to boil. I took it out of the pot, and wanted to be sure it was done inside, cut it open and bloody juice squirted ALL OVER ME, Nick, and the entire kitchen, I think even Kiwi ( my dog yorkie) got some on her fur. I REALLY WIAHED I HAD MY APRON ON THEN… Thanks for all your wonderful gifts:) Happy cooking! And Merry Christmas! Reply

This may not sound like a disaster to others but it was to me. Newly married I was cooking for my husband so I made a soup requiring zazharka. I made dinner and expectedly waited for my husband to come home so I could serve him a hot fresh home cooked meal. Well there was something my husband forgot to tell me before we got married, he doesnt like cooked onions. Needless to say I ate that whole pot of soup by myself and my husband didnt get to eay a hot home cooked meal that night. Well lesson learned and I dont put onions in my zazharka anymore unless its minced, that way he cant tell but I still get the onion flavr. ssshhh dont tell him 😉 Reply
