Happy Easter 2013 (A Holiday Menu and More)!

I hope you all had a wonderful Easter!Β It’s one of my favorite holidays (equal to Christmas) because of it’s significance.

It’s commercialized with the bunny and such, but it’s really a Christian holiday; when Jesus rose from the dead. I like how Alan Church; (an evangelist friend of ours) put it on his Facebook page: “Lord, thanks for kicking the devil in the teeth, stripping him of his power to harm me, and giving me authority over him by coming out of that grave! Sorry it was my sin that put you on that cross, but thank you for thinking of me and loving me enough anyway to lay down your life. The sacrifice of my praise seems so small in comparison to your sacrifice, but I’ll sing your praise for eternity!”

Easter Menu:

After church we headed to Mom’s house. Easter dinner was delicious. This was on the menu:

1. Pelmeni (a type of meat filled Russian ravioli). These were made with a Pelmeni mold.

8. There was also white rice with a stir-fry of veggies and mushrooms. Oh and there was an easter bread; of course!

Easter Egg Hunt:

After dinner, we scattered loads of plastic eggs stuffed with gobs of candy and let the kiddos search for them

The children then forced their uncle to pull them around in their little red wagon. They flipped over once; that’s where the concerned look comes from.

Then we all sat on a hill in my parents yard and enjoyed each other’s company in the perfect weather and sunshine. It was lovely.

    Such a lovely post. Would certainly try the Beet and pea salad this year. Pics of egg hunt looks so cute. I am thinking of arranging this for my daughter as well. Hope she will enjoy. Happy Easter in advance for 2018 ! Reply

    Happy belated Easter! The photos are amazing, Natasha! The food, the fun, and cuteness off the radar πŸ™‚ Our Easter was exceptionally cold this year, my son had numb fingers after about a 15 minute egg hunt. But it was still great to have my sister and her family over!
    P.S. I am so making the beat salad this weekend! Looks scrumptious! Reply

    We are celebrating by the Orthodox calendar, so I have the benefit of gleaning food ideas from everyone in the West who has already celebrated. πŸ™‚

    I’m hoping to try making folares, Portuguese sweet buns which my mom used to make.

    Of course, the food isn’t our main focus. Reply

    Not in Alaska!! The weather was really nice, but we still have all of our snow everywhere!! It was about 35′ Fahrenheit yesterday. We had to have some of our windows open because it became too stuffy inside!! ΠŸΠ°ΡΡ…Π° is one of the main holiday for me too! I love it!! Spring is the best time of the year!(for me) πŸ™‚ especially knowing all the snow is melting, and the green grass will take its place on the ground!! Reply

    In washington it was 70 degrees too.. It’s nice weather…. I went to our moms with my husband and spend Easter together with everyone.. And the kids collected Easter eggs with candy in it too. πŸ™‚ Reply

    We also had our Easter Dinner outside at my moms and dads house! It was 75 degrees outside….just couldn’t stay indoors when it was so beautiful outside! Reply

    our Easter is May 5th..but our day here in NJ was sunny and about 50 deg., not too bad..spent part of day after church with my Mom…then with hubby went out to eat…later in afternoon the sun disappeared and by dinner it was sprinkling outside. With my left arm in an immobilizer will have several of your recipes on hold to try when given okay by Dr. Getting better at one hand typing, but try to limit how much…have a nice April 1st. (I’m Ukrainian & Hungarian mix, grew up on good food from both grandmother’s who came to US 1912-14) Reply

      It was really nice to get out of the house. It was about 70 degrees outside and sunny; T-shirt and shorts weather! Is it just in Idaho, or is Easter weather generally amazing? Reply

        Natasha, Your Easter looked lovely. We also spent a wonderful day at our grandmas where our hearts and bellies got full. πŸ˜‰ Surprisingly it rained Easter morning, but then cleared up a bit later on. Reply
