We made strawberry infused water (detox water) all last summer. Now that our basil is thriving again, we’ve resumed our flavored water tradition. I’m also excited to share with you a new favorite that I’ve discovered; watermelon basil. Adding basil to water gives it an amazing freshness and the fruit adds just the right amount of sweet tang.

My friend Amber from nursing school introduced me to flavored water. Amber, my waistline thanks you! :). Try serving these up at your next party instead of boring water bottles.

Strawberry Flavored Water (Detox Water):

4-6 strawberries, hulled and quartered
1/2 lemon, sliced
Small handful of basil, scrunched
Ice and cold filtered water

Flavored Water-2

Watermelon Flavored Water (Detox Water):

2 slices of watermelon, cut into thirds or quarters
Small handful of basil, scrunched
Ice and cold filtered water

Flavored Water-1

How to make fruit infused detox water:

Fill your juice pitcher to the top with ice and fruit. Slightly scrunch up the basil so it releases it’s flavor. Cover with cold filtered water. This water is best if you let the water infuse at least 1 hour. If you’re inpatient (like me), poke a few holes in your fruit with a fork for instant flavor.

Hi Natasha. I’m Kelli. I love your recipes. I have recently discovered Hint water. I like it but it needs something. And it’s pricey. I’m going to try you infused water recipes. Do you have any others?

Hi Dipak, this water is really best chilled. Once it feels like it has reached room temperature, I would refrigerate again. Timing depends on if it was chilled and if you had ice cubes in there so it’s difficult to gauge a specific amount of time. If you are planning to leave it out for several hours at a party, be sure to load it up with ice and it will keep well at room temperature 3-5 hours.

The beauty of flavored water is that it’s refillable. Start with 1 Liter of water and refill until it runs out of flavor. You can easily refill 2-3 times 🙂

Thanks for sharing. I will have to try these two sets of mixtures. I have been drinking the lemon-cucumber mixture and lemon-orange mixture.

Will this work if you put only strawberries in it? Or just strawberries and frozen blueberries?
