Here’s a peek into our family vacation in Maui last week. It was nice,… make that wonderful! We intentionally did a whole lot of nothin’ :). I’m so thankful for the opportunity to relax.

Now we’re rested up, pumped up and settling back into our cooking groove. Enjoy the photos and I hope they send a little sunshine your way! There are lots more delicious recipes coming soon!

The beach we walked to daily:

We took this shot on a sunrise whale watching tour. Check out the whale video on my Instagram feed! We also had a dolphin swimming right along-side the boat for awhile. It was stunning and my son named him Flipper.

Looks like you guys had a lot of fun. Which hotel did you stay at? Any suggestions on a good hotel/beach in Maui?

We actually stayed at my parent’s time share. I don’t even remember the name of the place. You might check out vacation rentals by owner, or look for a condo that is rented out directly by the owner.

Lovely! My husb and I are HUGE nothing vacationers. We might pick a couple of things we want to see or do, but we mostly just go without a plan and wander around the whole time. So incredibly fun and restful. Glad you had a good time.

Isn’t that the best? Just doing a whole-lotta-nothing?! It is truly restful and it feels so spontaneous (which I’m not normally) 😉

our 25th wedding anniversary was put off for three years using our funds to update a family home to sell (we did majority of the work to save $$) and when it sold, Hawaii was booked…first class TWA, they were running a sale that year, $650 coach or $1250 first class and they were the cheapest, everyone else was ‘much’ higher…only time we all flew that way, but hey, you need to ego boost sometimes in your life…I did my homework, used our time share and have to thank my husband’s third cousin for a wonderful Easter dinner at their family owned Outrigger Hotel…Hawaii can be expensive, but with digging around, you can find bargains…especially in the magazines in the boxes on the street…

Thanks for sharing your story. First class sounds nice! 😉 I agree, you have to shop around and try to go to the places locals visit. It is spendy there!
