2017 Holiday Gift Guide + $300 GIVEAWAY!

Natasha\'s Kitchen 2017 Christmas gift guide and $300 giveaway poster

This post may contain affiliate links. Read my disclosure policy.

Our annual Christmas gift guide is here and it’s our best one yet!! We have 25 gift ideas, including the practical and crazy stuff (especially #7). I hope this holiday gift guide gives you great ideas for everyone on your Christmas list!

Also, this month we celebrated the 8th anniversary of Natasha’s Kitchen! When we started this blog in 2009, we never dreamed it would become a full time career for my husband and I. Things have gotten so busy that we have hired an assistant, Laura, who helps us a ton behind the scenes and she manages our new private Facebook group (Laura we are so thankful to have you!).

It blows my mind how much our blog has grown this year. I am humbled and so thankful to God for each of you, our readers who have made that happen. To thank you, I’m giving away three Amazon gift cards (3 WINNERS!), sponsored by us because we love you. Enter the giveaway at the bottom of this post.

Holiday Gift Guide 2017:

Note: This is NOT a sponsored gift guide, just stuff we love. I took me way longer than I anticipated to compile this list and I hope you get some great ideas here! Most of these items can be found on Amazon and I have included our affiliate links below. I hope you enjoy this list and aren’t too “blown away” by #7. Ha ha!

#25: Russian Piping Tips

These are so popular right now! Russian frosting tips are perfect for people who love to decorate cakes, cupcakes, cookies, etc. After several friends and readers recommended this, it’s definitely on my list this year! Someone I follow on Instagram, @irina_p19 uses them all the time in her beautiful creations.A box and many different piping tips next to it

#24: Daily Planner

The Day Designer planner is cute and functional! I have used this weekly one for a couple years now and it helps me keep my life together. I’m trying their new daily version this year to see if it helps me be stay on track and be more productive. I get so side-tracked on days that I don’t plan!

#23: Food Saver

We use this obsessively. It keeps foods (especially meat and cheese) really well in the fridge and freezer when the air is vacuumed out – seriously tastes fresh when thawed. A FoodSaver is also awesome for sealing bags of chips, cereal, candy, etc. It’s worth spending the money to save even more in food costs since food is the #1 expense for most households.

#22: Spice Drawer Inserts (on my wish list!)

These are so clever! You can see all of your spices at once and I’m getting these drawer inserts for our new kitchen . I discovered the idea for these on a blog called Downshiftology.A close up of an organized spice drawer

#21: Glass Mugs

These make me feel like I’m cozied up in a coffee shop. Glass mugs are especially perfect for serving hot cocoa or fancy coffee drinks so you can see the layers.

#20: OXO Food Storage Containers

Keeps your pantry tidy plus your food will stay fresh longer. I love my OXO storage containers and have used them for several years now. I need another set since all of mine are full!Clear 10 piece organizing containers

#19: Stackable Magnetic Measuring Spoons

These are my favorite measuring spoons! I love that they come apart so you don’t have to dirty up the whole ring of spoons and you don’t have to rummage in the drawer to find them since they stack. So handy! Notice they are double sided and have a narrow side to fit into spice jars; a feature I use ALL THE TIME!

Five different measuring spoons

#18: Bluetooth Speaker

We used this speaker to play music outside all summer long. It makes outdoor play way more fun. This Boom 2 Speaker has a long battery life and great range when it connects to the music on your phone. And it is waterproof and shock proof – perfect by my parents pool.

#17: Magnetic Mount for Your Cell Phone

This is such a smart and useful invention! Think: phone GPS. My husband installed one in his car and I convinced him I needed one also. Good thing they come in packs of 2! You need 2 things to make this work: place this magnetic phone plate under your phone case and then attach this magnet ring to your car’s AC vent.

A magnetic attachment that attaches the phone to your car

#16: Action Bible

This is my son’s favorite Bible to read. The illustrations are in comic and conversation form which really makes the bible stories come alive. Every page is skillfully illustrated which makes the stories easier to remember. I read this with my son regularly and he always begs me to read the next story –  he gets so into it!

A book called The Action Bible

#15: Bocce Ball Set:

We purchased this set over a year ago and have gotten great use out of it. Bocce Ball is easy to play and fun for kids and adults which makes it a great game to play together as a family (just not the toddlers since they run off with the balls).

#14: KitchenAid Hand Mixer:

This is a really handy tool for any cook. I had a hand mixer before I had a stand mixer and I still use my hand mixer! It’s quiet, easy to use, easy to clean and perfect for smaller jobs when you don’t want to dirty up your stand mixer. I have this one in candy apple red.

#13: Old School Popcorn Maker

Homemade popcorn will make your house smell so crazy good! We use our stovetop popcorn maker to make kettle corn with coconut oil and sugar but you can add all kinds of flavorings and make sweet or savory popcorn. It’s such a cozy and healthy treat for the holidays or anytime of year really! It’s easy and literally takes about 5 minutes.

#12: Instant Pot (on my wish list!)

This is probably the biggest thing since slow cookers (actually it is a slow cooker and pressure cooker and rice cooker and more). I’m getting one to see what all the fuss is about! Do you own one? What’s your favorite use for it? Do you have a favorite recipe to share that I should start with?

Instant pot

#11: Perfume for Her

This is the perfume my husband purchased for me last year (I copied my cousin Lena because her perfume made our house smell so good on her last visit to Idaho). 🙂 The Versace Versense is very floral and lovely.

#10: Cologne for Him

This has been my husband’s favorite for years! I just love Acqua Di Gio on him!

Aqua Di Gio Giorgio Armani cologne

#9: All-Clad Square Grill Pan

My sister recommended this to me. This is perfect for indoor grilling. Everything tastes so good on this pan!

#8: Planetbox Lunchbox

My son loves this lunch box and it’s just more fun to eat lunch when your food is in little compartments. That icepack is a great add-on. We use it daily.

#7 Squatty Potty:

What is a holiday gift guide without a squatty potty? Remember, I’m still a registered nurse so I don’t easily “lose my lunch” (no pun intended). And as a nurse, I think this is a genius product. Do you know someone who needs a squatty potty? I keep seeing these hilarious commercials (32 million views on Youtube) that are frankly more entertaining than this years superbowl commercials. Last years gag gift was equally amazing. My apologies in advance if you think this is gross. As long as you’re not eating a snickers or an ice cream cone while watching, you’ll be ok.

#6: Wooden Food Groups

For the youngest foodie in your life (doubles as a training tool for those who don’t appreciate their vegetables!). I love Melissa and Doug stuff. It’s cute, sturdy and affordable.

Plastic food toys

#5: Fitbit Alta HR (on my wish list!)

Everyone has raved about these for years so I asked my husband for one for Christmas so I can count my steps and keep myself motivated. HA! Do you own a Fitbit? Do you love it? Let me know in a comment below!

Black FitBit Alta HR

#4: COOKIES!!

Cookies make the best homemade gifts! Think: neighbors, teachers, friends, me (I can receive packages at 1200 N. Main St. #161, Meridian, ID 83680). HA HA Kidding/Not-Kidding!!

Some of our favorite Christmas cookie platter items include: Baklava cups (authentic flavor and so easy), Gingerbread cookies (they don’t get much cuter than this!), Meringue Cookies (aka rose cookies), Melting Almond Cookies (just like little snowballs), and so many other cookies to choose from!

These glazed gingerbread cookies are easy to make and stay soft for days! They have deep gingerbread cookie flavor and the glaze is perfect for decorating! | natashaskitchen.com

#3: DIY Vanilla Extract

Make vanilla extract now (full tutorial here) so it can get some color in time for  Christmas. This is such an easy project and makes a thoughtful and darling gift. I made these for all of my sisters and friends last year.

A glass bottle of vanilla extract one is wrapped with a white and red linen napkin

#2: A Drone

My husband has been asking and asking for this for years. We took this DJI Mavic Pro with us to Maui and got some seriously amazing footage that I will share next week. I am planning to print some of his photos on canvas in our new house :). I know this is a splurge but just in case you have been dreaming of a drone, my husband is very happy and bordering obsessed with his. He did loads of research before investing in this. Be ready to learn how to use this since there is so much to learn to make the shots super cool!

A DJI Mavic Pro Drone

#1: Custom Calendar

I know it sounds cheesy but my husband made calendars for both my parents and his parents last year and they show those calendars off to visitors every opportunity they get. I don’t think their calendars will ever get tossed. 🙂 My husband went as far as putting all of the family members birthdays on the calendar which is so fun and thoughtful! He ordered his from the Photos app located on mac computers for $20 and you can also get them on Costco.com for $20.

I am 80 years old and still cooking for Christmas. I have made the snowball cookies but left them in 13 minutes and the bottom was a deep brown. I was so upset but I was able to salvage them by scraping the bottom carefully. They taste good but a little dry. Next time I will bake them 11 minutes. I also made your creamy mashed potatoes, but I used chicken broth instead of milk and they came out fluffy without any lumps. Whipping is a great idea. Its never to late to learn to cook better. Thank you for your great recipes.

Hi Rose, I’m so glad you like our recipes! To help troubleshoot the cookies – not all ovens are created equal which is why I wrote that I only baked mine for 11 minutes. Oh also, if you are using a convection oven (which bakes faster), you will have to reduce the bake time. I sure hope that helps!! 🙂

The instant pot is my favorite small kitchen appliance. It does so much, I use it probably 3 times per week for dinners. Roasts, chili, soup, etc. I even cooked my eggs and chicken in it for olivye salad.

Another thing on that list that we love so much is the planet box. Our second year and we love it! I even got the bigger one for myself.

you will love your instant pot. I finally got myself one this year and have used it a lot. Especially if I am pressed for time, like being gone for a part of the day. We come home and load up the pot and set the pot and in a very short time we are having a wonderful meal. It is wonderful for cooking potatoes and hard boiling eggs all at the same time. While they are cooking you can be prepping the rest of your ingredients for the salad.
Also, the food saver is just what it says it is. Ahh the many things we have used it for. Plus, as you eat the food in the bags you have enough extra bag to reseal if you want. Love it!
Your family is just lovely. So glad you have them. Also love all your work and dedication in sharing your recipes. I’ve tried a lot of them and have not found any I did not like. Thanks!

I have that kind of instant pot, love it so much, I use it pretty much everyday for cooking. I love to make soups in it and then I keep it on warm mode so when hubby gets home I don’t have to heat up the soup on the stove and wait on it. Also, my favorite part is cooking beef meat(25 mins and it’s ready), then I use it for borsch or stir fry recipes.

LOL thanks Lana! I’m glad you got a good laugh out of that. I was busting out laughing in an embarrassing way when I watched that video and couldn’t resist.

I thought that was a pretty awesome feature – especially with tracking sleep cycles!

You mean to tell me that the only way to enter the contest is if I download an app to my smartphone or use face book? Seriously? What about non-smartphone users? What about non-face book users?
    Guess we are SOL.

Hi David, it is not necessary to have a smartphone to enter. You only need any kind of computer or ipad and an email address to login. You don’t have to do all the entries to enter. If you do any of the options, you will be entered 🙂

This list is AWESOME! Thank you so much – you’ve pretty much sorted my Christmas shopping for me and a sneaky little new perfume for myself which might just make its way under the tree 😉 I have a Fitbit and LOVE it! At around 4-5pm if I haven’t done my 10000 steps I go for a quick little walk around the block. Keeps me motivated. I’ve been folliwing your page for a long time now and it’s definitely very informative – keep up the great posts 👏👏👏. And Merry Christmas 😃

I bought instant pot yesterday. So excited to start cooking in it. Non – veg & legumes are a part of our daily cooking. So I think instant pot will be a good idea. I loved the list you had given. My daughter uses planet box too.
I follow you in Instagram, and look at your cooking almost every day( mine is Lenarashmin). I made avocado, cucumber salad and loved it. Russian piping kit is a good idea. I will check it. Thanks Natasha
