A Wintery Day in McCall & A Video!

We sure love Idaho. We get slammed with all 4 seasons and there’s a resort town just 2 hours away; McCall. We vacationed there in summer and couldn’t get enough. This past week we jumped in my husbands truck and set out to see the famous McCall Winter Carnival.
The main attraction is a street lined with giant ice sculptures, but our main attraction was a makeshift tubing hill where my husband and son really cut loose. Hope you enjoy these photos and video clips 🙂
Watch The Video of our McCall Winter Carnival Below:
(that’s Payette lake in the background; all frozen over).
My son is the bravest 3-year old I know, granted I only know a handful of 3-year olds, but he sure loved zooming down that hill and yelled “awesome!” every time he reached the bottom. Yep, they had fun.
(no words, just laughs; this picture cracks me up).
This little guy cried when it was time to go… 🙁 Then he saw the ice sculptures and the crying stopped.
This dude had a slide in back for the kiddos (granted, it probably bruised some bottoms).
The grand prize ice sculpture was incredible; you could walk inside and be greeted with Christmas lights frozen into the ice and there was surprise sculpture inside of a person. WOAH; now that’s creativity!
This was lunch. I still can’t get over that my 3-year old loves green salad.
And he loves pizza. He can down the huge slices at Costco and we can’t leave the store until he gets his pizza.
It was good to get away from work and the ‘ol routine. Maybe next time we’ll stay overnight and go snowmobiling!
Make sure to Pin this on your Vacation ideas board! I think you’d like it 😉
Looks fun, but cold. brrr…. I always make fun of my friend who complains about how chilly San Diego winter nights are. He’s from Odesa, but also been to Moscow; so it sounds silly when he says that. We have snow in the mountain, but that’s nothing in comparision. :p
How cold are San Diego nights? I always thought that was the warmer part of the world! 🙂
where my friend lives, will be mid 30s at night next couple night. I live closer to the ocean, in low 40s (& we will have rain). But we had some really cold weather in Jan & it was around 27 to low 30s where my friend lives.
I guess it depends on what you’re used to. I remember a couple days driving home and it was 1-3 degrees F outside in Boise 🙂
Hi Natasha,
Love your blog! what Camera do you use to film this video? and what camera do you use for food photos?
Photos and videos are done using Canon 6D.
We have 4, two girls and 2 boys 🙂 By the way, my kids love your chicken skewers and get so excited when they find out I’m making them 🙂
My son likes them too. I just have one little guy for now. Wow 4 must keep you on your toes!
Unfortunately, we didn’t get to explore it because we just spent the night there but the Hampton Inn that we stayed at, was one of the nicest hotels from our whole trip. It had a huge pool so the kids got to unwind from all the driving 🙂
That’s always nice 🙂 how many kiddos do you have?
Looks fun, I hope that you went sledding, too. Maybe on our next cross country roadtrip, we will make a stop there 🙂 We did make a stop at Boise overnight on our last trip so I guess we weren’t too far from it.
How did you like Boise? Or was it just a pit stop?
Wow! Looks like you guys had a wonderful time! Its good to get out and enjoy God’s beauty!
We don’t do it often enough, but moments like these are always treasured :).
That looks sooooo fun wish I could have joined
Next year!! 🙂

Thanks Sveta and thanks so much for the awesome haircuts you have my guys 🙂
Looked like fun! You guys are such a cute family 🙂
Thank you Luba 🙂 It was a good day.
Nice to see some snow….rarely do we have any here in Myrtle Beach, SC….and it melts away quickly. Love that you shared your wonderful outing with your internet “family” of followers….great memories in the making for you. Your family in precious.
Thank you Zina 🙂 I also love getting to know all of you through this blog.
Really cool video. Your son will love it when he grows up.
Btw, speaking of your toes. There are this warmers you stick to your socks and they provide heat trough out many hours. I got huge box at Costco, have been using it over the years. The only way I can stay for hours in the snow.
I wish I had those! I also think I need some warmer snow boots 😉
We all have snow pants also. Helps a lot. I hate cold weather and chicken out in about and hr and want to go home 🙂
We are actually going to a snow resort this weekend with friends. But at least we can go to a warm room 🙂
My legs were ok since I wore thick tights under my skinny jean but my toes were freezing!
I love McCall! It’s been a couple summers since my husband and I have been, this makes me want to go back ASAP. I enjoyed the little family video! 🙂 you have such a cute family.
Thank you 🙂 It is a cool little getaway spot, but we just recently rediscovered how great it is! I’ve been in Idaho about 14 years and haven’t been to McCall nearly enough. I’m happy to be married to a guy that’s more adventurous than I am.
What a great time! I wish we were closer by so we could experience the winter wonderland. 🙂
What part of the world are you in?
Natasha, privet from Washington, DC and thank you for sharing wonderful pictires!
Raisa.
That’s a long way from Idaho 🙂
Internet makes it shorter :o)
Agree, and warmer :).
Brrr… COLD… I guess I am used to my Cali weather..
Looks like you had good family time 😉
It was nice to get away from town and just hang out together :).
Great pics Natasha. I really enjoy your site. Keep up the great work!!!
Thank you 🙂
Thank you Hector, I love getting comments like these :).
Natasha, first of all I want to thank you for sharing this side of your family to us. It was so beautiful to watch this clip with my 2 year old son. His face shined when he saw your son (Jonathanchik loves kids!). He asked me to replay the end where your son goes up the hill and then throws the snowball. It made my heart melt. I held my son a little closer and was filled with joy how a simple video can touch someone. Thank you for opening your home to viewers like me. I love trying out your recipes and have so many that I want to try but it’s hard with school. I am blessed to have been able to find your website. Be blessed and have a great week!
Thank you so much for your thoughtful comment. I can just imagine the two of you watching it together. I’m glad you enjoyed it 🙂
I wanna go there now:)))
Make sure to dress warm 🙂
Oooohhh, you guys had so much fun!!!
Your little man is adorable!…. Thank you for posting these wonderful pics:)
Living in California, I am so unused to snow and cold. Although I grew up having a real snowy and freezing winter back in Europe when I was little….
Miss those days…
It was a perfect day to visit :). Falling snow was icing on the cake.
