Cherry Picking In Emmett… and more

Saturday: what an eventful day. My hubby was off today (And he never has Saturdays off!!) David woke up early: 6:30am, ate and went back to sleep till 9am. I was out of the house by 7:45am and met up with my Mom to visit some neighborhood garage sales (those are the best; especially when you can park by one house and visit three yard sales at once!).
Anyway, we had a successful day. I bought lots of nice stuff for David, including a toy box ($2; bargained down from $5) that I’m looking forward to repainting. I’m nuts for garage sales; it’s like an addiction really.
Got home around noon and played with David. Reheated some Golubtsi (stuffed cabbage for which I will post the recipe). David was asleep at 2 and my Mom was so nice to come over and babysit while Vadim and I drove to Emmett. 2 hours, $47 and a big cooler full of luscious cherries later, and we were driving home. It’s just a half-hour drive. Nice to be out in the country though. It reminded me of when we went cherry picking as kids. Now I have to think about what to cook with all those cherries? Cherry Vareniki, cherry pie??
We spent the evening at my parents pool, just relaxing and letting David splash around. He wowed us by taking more of his “first steps” toward Grandma on their lawn in his little whitie tidies. His booty looks so cute in those!! We finished by giving him a rinse under the sun-warmed water in my parents outdoor shower, which David enjoyed thoroughly.
Something about that moment with David in my parents summer shower reminded me of my Mom taking me to their shower in Ukraine for a rinse when I was a babe. I think it’s a real memory; I should ask my mom.
Brought David home and he was out by 8pm. I crashed in bed for 2 hours and woke up dead tired. The sun just drains me of all my energies. Boxed meal for us tonight. Took a relaxing shower while I reminisced about the day and Praised God for this is a day that the Lord has made. I will rejoice and be glad in it.
