Cucumber and Tomato Planting Update

A tomato plant growing out of the soil

My parents have just replanted cucumbers and tomatoes in their home-made greenhouse. They grow up so fast… Can’t wait to enjoy fresh tomatoes.
Planting in a greenhouse is the best route since you don’t have to worry about frost, you’ll enjoy your tomatoes earlier and they will continue growing longer! They have 2 electric heaters going in their greenhouse to keep things warm at night and the sun keeps it pretty toasty in there during the day.

If you don’t have a green house, plant tomatoes and cucumbers in the ground when there is no more threat of frost at night. They also keep a tub of water in there so there is room temperature water available to water the plants (not necessary, but it’s better while the plants are young). They even have a cute little window (and a door of course).

Please be sure to water your plants 🙂

Try bull heart. They are hard to find seeds for since there are only a few seeds in each tomato but they are amazing!

They plant so many things that they made a portable greenhouse that they wheel out into the sun daily for when the plants are small. They grow there until they are large enough to put in the greenhouse. Most people don’t plant that much! They have a garden that sits on over 1/4 acre of land (not counting their dozen+ fruit trees and tons of grapes). They are quite the gardeners 🙂

Wow, sounds fun. My parents do similar thing with their tomato plants. Our weather in Kent is so cold.
By the way, you boy is so so adorable… 🙂

We lived in Seattle for awhile. That’s probably the biggest reason your Moms tomato plants might not be growing as quickly.
