Vegetable Dip
There isn’t a dip that gets easier than this simple yet flavor-packed veggie dip, ready in just 5 minutes. The dip is made with mayo, sour cream, seasonings, and herbs.
We love serving this classic dip with our favorite fresh veggies. Make a dip and arrange the vegetables on a platter Charcuterie style and serve!
Ingredients
This simple dip recipe comes together fast and you most likely already have all the ingredients!
- Mayo – We use Hellmann’s Real Mayonnaise, but you can use your favorite mayo.
- Sour cream – Regular or light sour cream can be used.
- Lemon juice – Gives the dip a hint of tanginess
- Seasonings – Salt, pepper, paprika, garlic and onion powder, parsley, and dill.
How to Make Veggie Dip
- Chop herbs – finely mince if using fresh herbs.
- Whisk together – In a bowl whisk the mayo, sour cream, dried parsley, salt, pepper, paprika, garlic powder, dried onion, lemon juice, and fresh dill until well combined.
- To serve – Place dip in a serving bowl and set on a platter surrounded with your favorite fresh veggies.
Pro Tip: Cover and chill the dip in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes for the perfect cold veggie dip.
Optional Add-Ins
This is a classic recipe and you can add some of your favorite flavorings to change things up. Here are some ideas:
- Bacon bits
- Jalapenos
- Shredded cheese
- Fresh garlic
- Chopped bell peppers
- Spinach
- Grated carrot
Common Questions
This dip can stay fresh for up to 4-5 days when stored in an airtight container in the fridge.
We don’t recommend freezing the dip as dairy doesn’t usually freeze well.
You can make a lighter version of this dip by using light mayo and light sour cream.
You can also enjoy this veggie dip with crackers, pretzels, tortilla chips, or even potato chips. You can also spread it on sandwiches or tortilla pinwheels.
You’ll need a third amount of fresh herbs to dry herbs. So 1 tablespoon fresh herbs will be equal to 1 teaspoon dry herbs.

This was easy and so delicious! This will be my go-to recipe now! Next I’ll try all the seasonings in some whipped cottage cheese, too feel less guilty 😉
So glad you loved it! The cottage cheese sounds delish! Let us know how it turns out.
This dip got rave reviews from my family at our christmas party. The fresh dill and lemon juice are the key.
Great to hear that it was a huge hit!
Hi! Thanks for the recipe! It looks good and I can’t wait to try it. Can I use fresh parsley?
Hi Mil! Yes, you can. I hope you love the recipe!
Used primal kitchen avocado mayo and dairy-free sour cream instead due to a lactose intolerance, but kept everything else the same! Delicious!!!
Thank you for sharing! I’m glad you enjoyed it.
A yummy add-in would be about 3/4 tsp. of curry powder. It was a very popular dip in the 70’s.
Thank you so much for sharing that with me, Patricia!
What is the serving size of this recipe? Trying to determine nutritional facts based on serving size.
Hi Wendy! At the top of the recipe card, it shows how many servings the recipe makes. The nutrition facts are determined per serving. Sorry, I do not have it measured out since it’s a computer generated chart, but this recipe serves 8 total so you can divide it into 8 equal servings. I hope that helps!
Delicious! The fresh dill and lemon made it for me. Our family enjoyed it with cucumbers, carrots, and pita chips. We all loved it. I will definitely make it again and may add some jalapeño and/or bacon bits. LOVING your recipes, Natasha. Thank you.
Lovely feedback! Thank you so much, we appreciate it.
This is better than the packets you get at the store! I added some spicy mustard instead of lemon and it tasted great
That sounds amazing, Kaley! 🙂
Hi Natasha, can I use yogurt instead of sour cream? I’m in Portugal and want to make this dip, but no sour cream here!
Thanks!
Hi Tina, I haven’t tried that, but it may work. Here’s what one of my readers wrote: “It is a great recipe however, I needed something healthier. I used Greek Yogurt and pretty much doubled the spices. Next time I will add that buttermilk and am very happy with the healthier version.” I hope it helps!
I just made this–and it was wonderful. Unfortunately, I ate the entire bag of ripple chips. Thank God it was a really little bag.
Hi Sandra! I’m so glad you loved the recipe. Thank you for sharing.
Excellent recipe and easy to make. Thanks for posting this!
Thank you for your good review!
This recipe was so good and so easy to make! I serve it to my friends with veggies and chips and they all thought I bought the dip, because it tastes really great! Everybody will love it 🙂 Thank you for this recipe.
That’s just awesome! Thank you for sharing your wonderful review, Alyson!
It is a great recipe however, I needed something healthier. I used Greek Yogurt and pretty much doubled the spices. Next time I will add that buttermilk and am very happy with the healthier version.
I’m so glad you enjoyed it, Mary!
Hey peeps, if you’ve got it, add a tablespoon or two of buttermilk to this.
This is our favourite go-to recipe for vegetable dip! The dill adds a really pleasant and fresh tang.
That’s great, Kate! I’m so glad you love this recipe. It really is a great veggie dip.
Amazing! I have to alter the sour cream to crème fraiche(sour cream where I live is not the same thing) and I add a 1/4 tsp of msg and this dip is addicting!!!! Thank you for the recipe!
Glad that works just fine! Thank you for sharing that with us.
Can I make this dip night before the party ?
I would like to make it tonight and serve it tomorrow around 4 pm
Hi Liliya, I have a note on that in the recipe under the common questions section. “Common Questions
How long will this dip last?” I hope that helps!
I needed something quick for a baby shower I’m hosting. Decided to try only Greek yogurt, since a few had asked and I always have some on hand. Tastes great!! Love the combination of herbs (even without the fresh dill, which probably would have made it even better but I didn’t have!)
Hi Leslie! Thank you for sharing your experience. I’m glad that you tried this recipe.
