Do you ever use Beet leafs for any of your recipes? I hate throwing them out just wondering if you had good recipe!
Thanks

I do!!!!!! You got me excited, can you tell? Have you tried my superfood borscht? It’s good stuff! 🙂 https://natashaskitchen.com/2013/05/18/easy-superfood-red-borsch/
Dear Natasha,
My wife and I were in St Petersburg last year and our hosts made us a traditional Russian dish, it was like a pie with mince served with salsa and sour light cream. Are you familiar with it? If so do you have a recipe?
Many Thanks John and Debra
Hmmmm that one doesn’t ring a bell, but if I find something similar, I’ll be sure to share it! 😉
Hi Natasha my friend, Inna who is Ukrainian (I’m american) showed me this and these recipes look to dye for!!! They are so amazing I’m convincing my mom to make all of them. Thank you!
That’s so great!! Could it have been my sis-in-law Inna by chance? Just curious! Welcome to the blog and I hope you love everything you make!
Hi Natasha! 🙂
An App would be absolutely perfect!!!
A “scroll-to-top” button as well 😉
Thank you for all you do!! May God bless you and your family! 🙂
Thank you for the suggestions Anna :).
Hi Natasha,
I’m looking for a russian recipe that is dough with like potato and grechka filling. Do you know what I’m talking about. I think its like a bread dough (?) rolled out to cover the bottom of the pan, plus extra hanging over the edges. For the filling I believe its like cooked potatoes, cooked buckwheat mashed and mixed together. Then when it’s baked, it’s cut into pieces and eaten warm with gravy or sour cream, or lightly sauteed.
I’ll try to make my mom’s version, but her version is : a little bit of this, about a handful of that, a dash or two of this. So if you have an exact recipe, I’d be so grateful.
Is the feeling completely enclosed with dough or is it open on top. I’m trying to figure out which recipe you are asking about.
That was a quick reply. Its open on top, just part of it overlapping (like couple of inches around the border.
I actually have this thing in the oven now. I used bread dough recipe from Olgasflavorfactory, then cooked the potatoes and the buckwheat separately, mashed the potatoes, combined them, added some pepper and a bit of salt. I hope it turns out. I don’t know what it’s called though (potato pie? maybe). But if you do happen to find recipe (ask your mom, maybe she’s done it before) it would be good to see other variation. Usually its sauteed with butter after its baked, and mushroom gravy or just sour cream, like I mentioned above.
I haven’t heard of anything like that. Hmmm. Let me know how yours turns out too!
This thing turned out really well Natasha. So I guess I’ll send you an email with few more details, you can try it and hopefully post this thing.
Thank you so much. I look forward to it!
I love these so much even though some are difficult but i will keep practicing, thank you for your site all the way from Australia… 😉
Wow! I love to hear from people around the world. That’s awesome!
yes! thats it! Ive been rely on you site so much that when i couldn’t find it had no idea how to make it anymore lol Thank you! =)
I have to admit, I read my own recipes when I cook!! I can’t memorize over 300 of them! 🙂
Are some recipes put in a different place? or taken off? having a hard time finding the buckweat recipe
It’s still there: https://natashaskitchen.com/2012/06/21/buckwheat-with-mushrooms-3-giveaways/ 🙂 Is this the right one?
Your recipes are my go to whenever I am clueless!! Love the new recipe box, next on the list, an app? Maybe?)))
Thank you Irina, possibilities are endless :D.
