Simple Mashed Potatoes Recipe

- 4 lb Russet or Yukon potatoes
- 2 cloves of garlic
- 2 bay leaves
- 1 Tbsp of salt
- 1/2 stick 4 Tbsp of butter
- 1 cup of heavy cream
- 1/4 cup of sour cream
Wash and peel potatoes, peel and pierce garlic with the knife.
Cut potatoes into quarters and add them to the pot.
Fill the pot with cold water, just enough to cover potatoes, add garlic, two bay leaves and one tbsp of salt.
Cover the pot with a lid and bring water to boil, than cook for around 20 min on medium-high heat. You may need to decrease temperature to keep the potatoes at a light boil. Check potatoes for softness with a knife or a fork, if it goes through easy - they are done.
Remove cooked potatoes from heat and drain well. Remove and discard garlic cloves and bay leaves.
Roughly mash potatoes, than add melted butter, heavy cream and sour cream while continuing to mash everything till desired consistency. Your potatoes are ready.
