Air Fryer Chicken Wings have a crisp, salty skin and a tender center. The baking powder is optional, but it will make the skin extra crispy. These are seasoned to perfection and cook so fast with no marinating required, and there's no need to preheat the air fryer basket.
1tspbaking powder, optional (do not use baking soda)
Instructions
Thoroughly pat dry chicken wings with paper towels and place in a mixing bowl.
Drizzle with olive oil and toss to coat.
Season - In a small bowl, combine salt, pepper, paprika, garlic and onion powder, and baking powder (if using), then sprinkle over the chicken and toss to evenly coat wings with seasoning.
Air Fry - Place in air frying basket, spacing evenly, and air fry at 400˚F for 16-20 minutes, flipping halfway. Air-fry until chicken wings are crisp and golden brown on the outside. They should reach 165˚F on an instant-read thermometer, and they will taste even better if you let them reach 175˚F to 185˚F.
Notes
*If using whole wings, you will need about 1 1/4 lb of wings to account for the discarded wing tips.*Seasoning Variations: If you prefer the original recipe, you can replace all of the seasonings with 1 tsp garlic salt and 1 tsp lemon pepper. *For Extra Crispy Wings: Adding baking powder helps dry out the wings for extra crispy skins.*If doubling the recipe: To fit all of the wings and keep them in a single layer, line up the wings standing upright along the sides of the air fryer to maximize the space. When doubling the recipe, air fry for 18-22 minutes, or until the skin is crisp, flipping halfway. Storing and Reheating Leftover Chicken Wings: Once the chicken wings are cooled to room temperature, transfer to an airtight container and refrigerate for 3-4 days. You can re-crisp them in the air fryer at 400˚F for 4 to 5 minutes.
