Naturally Flavored Water (Detox Water)

Drinking naturally flavored detox water is the healthy way to get you drinking more water! Detox water is so refreshing. Your waistline will thank you!

We made strawberry infused water (detox water) all last summer. Now that our basil is thriving again, we’ve resumed our flavored water tradition. I’m also excited to share with you a new favorite that I’ve discovered; watermelon basil. Adding basil to water gives it an amazing freshness and the fruit adds just the right amount of sweet tang.

My friend Amber from nursing school introduced me to flavored water. Amber, my waistline thanks you! :). Try serving these up at your next party instead of boring water bottles.

Strawberry Flavored Water (Detox Water):

4-6 strawberries, hulled and quartered
1/2 lemon, sliced
Small handful of basil, scrunched
Ice and cold filtered water

Flavored Water-2

Watermelon Flavored Water (Detox Water):

2 slices of watermelon, cut into thirds or quarters
Small handful of basil, scrunched
Ice and cold filtered water

Flavored Water-1

How to make fruit infused detox water:

Fill your juice pitcher to the top with ice and fruit. Slightly scrunch up the basil so it releases it’s flavor. Cover with cold filtered water. This water is best if you let the water infuse at least 1 hour. If you’re inpatient (like me), poke a few holes in your fruit with a fork for instant flavor.

The beauty of flavored water is that it’s refillable. Start with 1 Liter of water and refill until it runs out of flavor. You can easily refill 2-3 times 🙂 Reply

Thanks for sharing. I will have to try these two sets of mixtures. I have been drinking the lemon-cucumber mixture and lemon-orange mixture. Reply

Will this work if you put only strawberries in it? Or just strawberries and frozen blueberries? Reply

I’ve been trying different combinations. Will definitely try your suggestions. I put it in a big pitcher and drink it for about a week since it is just me drinking it. Should I infuse the water with the fruit for a day or so and then strain the fruit and herbs out so they don’t go bad during the week or does the water lose the flavor once they are gone? Thanks! Reply

Anna, as long as you keep it refrigerated, fruit won’t go bad. I don’t strain it. I leave the fruit in the pitcher and just add more water, to have continuous supply through the week. Hope this helps :). Reply

I can’t wait to try this with Kangen 9.5pH water! It really pulls out the flavor of foods. Love making coffee and tea and soups with it. Have you ever tried it? Yummy! http://www.shinewithwater.com Reply
