If you’ve been following my Instagram posts, you know we were in Seattle recently; enjoying a long weekend catching up with family and friends and touring downtown. It was so nice.
I grew up in Seattle and it’s been a solid 6 years since my last visit there. Everything felt like a home away from home. I savored spending 4 (stress free) days with my hubby and son.
Our camera tagged along so we took “a few” photos. There’s no required cooking with this post. It’s ok, I too struggle with feeling like I need to be productive 99% of the time, but this is meant to be enjoyable so pour some hot cocoa, sit back, relax, and enjoy.
This boy had the most fun. He’s very social, plays well with others and makes friends quickly! He was surrounded with kids the entire trip and spent most of his time hanging out with these two gals (my cousin’s beautiful girls). They sure enjoyed each others company. This picture gives me warm fuzzies.

They found a puddle (now that’s a puddle!) Never-mind the pink boots 😉

And chickens.

Then they found a “jumpapoline,” as my son calls it. My little guy told me he would buy one for my birthday. He also talks about getting me a helicopter toy for Christmas.

This is the lovely Katya who is also quite a baker. She has shared several of her wonderful recipes such as: Russian Cake Truffles, the Tres Leches Cake and Cherry Surprise Cupcakes. Isn’t it great to put a face to the recipes?

And here’s one with the Mr. I shall call him Squishy and he shall be mine and he shall be my Squishy… way too much Nemo.

My son was grumpy for all of the pictures on the peer until there was mention of candy. So we bribed him, ok?

With the Mr and the wee one (post bribe – doesn’t that look like the face of a boy who just heard the word candy?

We toured Pike Place Market; the oldest farmers market around. Of course I wore a plaid shirt in downtown Seattle so everyone could tell I was from Idaho. Such a tourist!

I tried my very first macarons ever at a French Bakery in the heart of Seattle. I’m a little embarrassed that it took me this long to try one (shhhh!). I guess these babies are all the rage in these parts. They were also $2.00 a pop. Ahh!!

I also met Natalya of Mom’s Dish. That was pretty cool. If not for this blog, we probably would not have become friends. The same goes for you! Yes, YOU! I’m so happy to get to know you through this blog. In other news, my split ends are out of control and I need a haircut. How short should I go?

So nice to also catch up with my hubby’s side of the family. Our boys became instant best friends 🙂

I refer to my hubby’s cousins as “the bachelors.” They are a hoot. It’s always a good day when we see them and our son loves them too. I think kids are a good judge of character; they just know whose cool and who to run away from.

Seattle, we’ll be back; much sooner than 6 years next time! Thank you to everyone who so graciously welcomed us to this lovely state.

I hope you enjoyed poking around our “family album.” Have you taken any memorable trips this year? Are you planning any?
