Our most flavorful and tender steak kebabs recipe yet! My sister Sveta came up with this recipe and it is well loved by our whole family. These smell amazing on the grill and they taste even better! Marinating the steak overnight turns this into a make-ahead recipe (YES!) and the flavors are irresistible! Take one whiff of that marinade and you’ll just know! Get ready to savor every bite of these grilled steak kabobs.
Big thank you to my youngest sister, Sveta, for sharing this recipe with us. Sveta is a natural cook and she has shared so many of her wonderful recipes with us over the years, like this must-try juicy grilled chicken breast that shows up at nearly every summer party around here :).
Easy Ingredients Grilled Steak Kebabs & Steak Marinade:
What You Will Need:
8 medium (about 12″) metal grilling skewers
How to Make Steak Kebabs:
1. Add 1/4 cup BBQ sauce (honey flavor, or sweet and smoky), 1/4 cup white vinegar, 1/4 cup soy sauce, 2 Tbsp Worcestershire sauce, 2 tsp sesame oil, 1 tsp garlic salt, 1/2 tsp black pepper to a medium bowl and whisk to combine.
2. Place chopped steak into a large mixing bowl or Ziploc bag and pour marinade over meat. Stir to combine, cover (or seal the bag) and refrigerate overnight, stirring once or twice while marinating. Allow at least 8 hours for the marinade to tenderize the meat.
3. Skewer the marinated meat along with the sliced vegetables onto kabobs, alternating them on the skewer. Grill steak kabobs over med/high heat for about 8-10 minutes or until desired doneness is reached, rotating every 2-3 minutes for even grilling. Remove kebabs from grill and let them rest at least 5 minutes before eating.
Mmm I’m so hungry writing this post (and wishing there were leftovers!). These steak kebabs are so yummy paired with mashed potatoes and this salad!

Hi Abraham, This will work with chicken also. We have this recipe here for chicken skewers.
Hi Natasha ! I am a huge fan of all your recipes. Thank you so much for your creativity . How can I make this steak kebab without the grill?? can I
Make it in the oven ?
Hi Rima, I haven’t tried roasting but I think that could work. I can’t give you specific bake times – you might do some googling for roasted steak kabobs. We always put ours on the grill because we love the smokiness the grill adds 🙂
This was so delicious my son is still talking about it. I marinated the steak over night and it was so tender and delicious. You never disappoint, always look to you first when I need a good recipe. Thank you!
That is the best when kids love what we moms make. That’s so great, Mary Jane!
If we want to grill them in the home kitchen.. what will be the procedure and timing please?
Hi Sobia, I would suggest using cooking for about the same time and temperature if using a griddle or until the center reaches the desired doneness.
Could this be done in the air fryer? I am not a good “griller”
Hi Jodi, this should work in the air fryer. I haven’t tested it so I can’t provide specific timings but I think it’s a great idea.
Hi Natasha,
I wanted to try this marinade but I’m not a big fan of BBQ sauce, was wondering if I can omit it?
Thanks!
Hi Alla, it depends on your personal preference. You can use additional seasoning instead if you will omit the bbq sauce.
These were absolutely amazing! I marinated overnight, used fresh finely chopped garlic and 1” pcs of deseeded tomatoes and bell pepper instead of zucchini! Utterly tender, juicy and flavourful!
Isn’t the flavor amazing! I’m so glad you enjoyed this recipe Maheen!
These kebabs are so so tender and flavorful !! I bought Costco’s top sirloin beef, and marinated just under 8 hours and grilled over some campfire! Everyone raved about how tender they were. Thank you for this recipe!!
You are most welcome, Irene! I am so happy to hear about your great experience making this recipe. I hope you love each recipe that you try!
Just the meat is marinating, not the veggies?
Hi Ine! That’s right! Just the meat!

Can I marinate and grill the entire tri tip chuck as a whole or do you need to cut it into small pieces like the recipe? I’m hosting a large crowd and it would be easier to grill just 3-4 big tri tip steaks.
Hi Ilona, I haven’t tried it as steaks but I but that may work! If you experiment please let me know how you like that.
I have used this recipe for whole steaks… IT’S AMAZING!!!
Yum! Thank you so much for sharing that with us!
Delicious kebab recipe, thank you Natasha 😊 I had a piece of tri tip that I wanted to use up and went on your website first thing, & I found this recipe. I let it marinade for 3 days, it was delicious. My toddler ate a whole skewer haha
