This green smoothie is delicious, nutritious, energy boosting and good till the last drop. I love how naturally vibrant and pretty it is. The addition of avocado makes it creamy and velvety smooth and it’s balanced in sweetness with pineapple and honey. You’ll be happy to know, it has just 4 ingredients (not counting water)!
My son all of a sudden loves avocados. Finally! The only way he ate them before was in guacamole, but now he loves them straight out of the peel with just a sprinkle of salt. He’s smitten :).
We’ve been experimenting with smoothies this week and trying to develop recipes that he loves just as much as my husband and I do. With his new love for avocado, we decided to add it to the smoothie mix. His selective taste buds approved this Pineapple avocado smoothie. Happy blending!
Ingredients for Pineapple Avocado Smoothie:
1 C water
1/2 medium ripe avocado, peeled & pitted
2 C spinach
2 C frozen pineapple chunks
1 to 2 Tbsp honey or agave, or to taste
How to Blend the Perfect Avocado Smoothie:
1. Add all of your ingredients to the blender in this order: 1 Cup water, 1/2 medium rip avocado, peeled & pitted, 2 cups spinach, 2 cups frozen pineapple chunks. Blend until smooth (Note: always start with the liquids and soft ingredients and add the frozen stuff last).
2. Turn off the blender and add honey or agave to taste then blend until well incorporated.

* This is the best blender on the market as far as I’m concerned 🙂
How many does this smoothie serve? 😊
Hi Nicola, it will fill 2 tall glasses or 4 medium sized glasses.
Hi. What can i add in place of avocado?
Hi Shanza, A banana might work well instead of avocado 🙂
What can you sub for a pineapple because i don’t like pineapples?
Hi Julia, you want something sweet and tangy which is why pineapple works so well here but my guess is to experiment with peach or mango and see which is your favorite.
This was delicious!!
I’m glad you enjoyed it Maureen! Thank for sharing 😀
That was so delicious! I used a full avocado and coconut water, which also has good health values.
That’s a great idea Jenny! I am glad you enjoyed the recipe! 🙂
I would love to know the nutritional values of this.
Hi Sue, we don’t offer nutritional values due to time constraints but when we need a quick answer, I copy and paste the ingredients into the caloriecount.com recipe analyzer, adjust for serving size and it gives you some good info.
Any chance you could tell me what the UK equivalent measurements would be. Just can’t work out the cup sizes in grams but I’m guessing the cup sizes may be by volume rather than weight? Recipe sounds superb
Hi Michael, I haven’t weighed the ingredients but it’s roughly 2 large handfuls of fresh spinach and if you have a measuring cup that says 240mL, it is equal to 1 cup in US measurements. I hope that helps! 🙂
We love your recipe so much! It’s delicious! We decided to share your link on our web site:http://mentalandbodycare.com/green-avocado-smoothie-recipes/
Beautiful photos! 🙂
Thank you so much for sharing! I’m so glad you liked it 🙂
How many servings does this make?
It makes four(1 cup) servings or two tall glasses.
We love this but with banana added and Im sure I add a bunch more spinach, delicious! Any reason you add honey at the end? I just throw it all in my vitamix and it turns out great. Thanks for your insight!
Are usually add honey when my son is having the smoothies because he likes them on the sweeter side and he’s more likely to drink them. We love honey in recipes.
Love this Natasha, it is so tasty! I also love a beetroot, banana, and berry smoothie for an an antioxidant boost! These are so good post-workout!
I hope you can post a decadent mother’s day cake recipe before next week!!
Ooh that does sound like a great combination! We’ll have to try that soon. Thanks for sharing!
Wow dear…this looks good.
Avocado and spinach is unique combination.
Thank you :). It’s so simple and yummy! I hope you enjoy it too!
Natasha, does this recipe turn brown fast or does pineapple juice keeps it green like lime juice would? Thank you!
It does not brown quickly at all. We drank this fairly quickly after it was made, so we didn’t really do any long-term testing, but with the smoothie you wouldn’t really want to leave it out and let it get warm anyways. When it is mixed with the other ingredients, the avocado does not brown like it would if you just sliced it and left it out.
Спасибо 🙂
I love adding avocados to my smoothies. It’s how I get my picky toddler. I know I’m a sneaky mom, whatever it takes, right? I’ll try this recipe next time, thank you!
You have to do what you have to do !
Great you have print friendly, but, it is hard to find where to click on in the far left bottom of recipe. Thank You.
Hi Marie! Thanks for the feedback. We’re currently working on fixing the formatting. Are you having trouble finding the print button?
Mmmm, can’t wait to try this. I just recently got a vitamix blender and have been having fruit an chia seed smoothies. I didn’t like avocados as a kid either unless it was guacamole. It took until recently for me to try them and like them other ways. They are so good for you. With pineapple sounds very good.
They are really good with the pineapple in the smoothies. I hope you love this recipe. 🙂
I love veggie smoothies, I practically replaced water with them 😐 I’ve even got my folks into them.
That’s so great! We’re big fans of smoothies in our home too. We gave my parents a Blendtec and they are definitely blending more now 🙂
Wow, avocado smoothie! Your son is awesome for drinking those.
The crazy thing is, you can’t even taste the avocado, it just provides a silky creamy texture. 🙂
I would love this right now! I been making lots of smoothies with spinach for my low iron. What a good idea to add honey. 🙂 I always wish it was sweater and didn’t want to add sugar. Honey is the solution! Thanks for posting!
You’re so welcome. Anytime my son sees me squeeze in some honey, he’s way more likely to drink the smoothie 😉
Ditto that! Confession, don’t like avocado but know it’s so good for me. What a great way to consume it and loving the pineapple in here for the sweet factor. Didn’t think about how avocado would add a silky creamy texture. Thanks.
You probably wouldn’t even know it was in there by the flavor of the smoothie, but yes the texture is so nice!
Yummy! I love green smoothies, I can drink them everyday 🙂 I wish my daughter would love avocados like your son, maybe one day!
It only happened recently, so hold on to hope! 🙂 He’s almost 6 and he just started loving them.
