Welcoming Our Baby Girl

This week we welcomed our baby girl, Diana, into the world. We are so thankful to have a healthy, beautiful daughter and a blessed delivery. I wanted to share her baby story with you along with loads of newborn photos. Thank you to everyone who prayed for our family during my pregnancy. I’m so grateful to be surrounded by such caring readers, friends, and family. 🙂
Our first child was born via Emergency C-section which I won’t go into, but my prayer for this delivery was to have a normal labor with a healthy baby and healthy me :). Once you’ve had a cesarean, it’s risky to go too much past your due date so I scheduled an induction with my Doctor about a week after I was due. All the while, I had been praying to go into labor sooner on my own. The morning of my induction came and I was so excited that I didn’t sleep much that night. My husband, son and I were all up early getting ready.
[My hubby took this belly pic of me on my Due date (March 7th)].
Just before we left the house, I got the call that the hospital was full and I would have to reschedule. We were bummed and tried to go back to sleep so my son crawled into bed with me (because it was the only way we could get him back to sleep) and my husband went to David’s bed. Then I felt a strong kick and boom; she broke my water. My son could tell I was in pain and became very concerned. I told him to go get daddy right away because mommy needed his help so David bolted out of bed yelling, “Daddy it’s an emergency mama needs your help.”
Literally, a few minutes later my Dr. called to apologize that they had to reschedule but she was happy to hear that Diana had already decided that this morning was her time. Since we were packed and ready, we were on our way. I am in awe of God’s timing in jumpstarting my labor naturally; a last minute miracle!
On the way to the hospital, my contractions grew stronger and more painful and my son was very concerned saying, “Daddy can you drive a little faster?”
[Of course we took a picture together before we entered the hospital doors, knowing that when we came back out, life would never be the same].
[Ha ha this is what girls do before the real contractions kick in].
I’ll spare you the labor details but I will say that I wanted to hug my Mom and tell her how much I appreciated that she gave birth naturally to all 5 of us and in Ukraine no less (labor pains cannot be compared to any other pain).
[David’s first time holding her – he was singing rock-a-bye when she started crying and then he was shushing us when she fell asleep. It was so sweet]
The hospital provided a service from Bella Baby and all of the photos below were taken by Kim Price who did an amazing job capturing our sweet bundle and our overwhelming joy.
My husband Vadim was wonderful and helpful during the process and I’m so thankful that he was there to support me. I’m also incredibly blessed to have a Christian Doctor who I know prays for all her patients and who stuck it out the entire day to deliver our daughter. Diana was born at 10:12 PM on March 13th, weighed 7 lbs 8 oz and was 20″ long. It was such a beautiful moment to be able to hold her in my arms and hear her cry as soon as she was born. It was definitely a piece of heaven on earth. She is perfection – wonderfully created by her Creator. Her hair is so long, dark, and gorgeous. I’ll be making ponytails in no time.
“Behold, children are a gift of the LORD…” Psalms 127:3.
What religion are you based on? i am baptist

Ha ha, I didn’t have time to finish it up at home that morning 🙂 I was real eager to get to the hospital 🙂
Congrats- she’s beyond perfect. Also, props to you also for looking fabulous so quickly after delivery- I was a hot mess and as a result there are very few photos with me in them (this might be a good thing because I was swollen and exhausted from 4 hours of pushing!).
Enjoy this special time with your family!
We are enjoying every moment. 🙂 I was a hot mess the day she was born too. These photos were taken after a night of recovery and a shower 🙂
What a precious gift from God. I love how He provides every single little need at just the right time. Your daughter is beautiful. Congratulations!
That is so true and not just in the way she was born. We tried to get pregnant for three years and looking back – she was given to us at just the right time. We are so thankful. Thank you for your sweet comment 🙂

Congratulations to you and your family !! Diana is beautiful !(great name by the way ).
Thank you Diana 😉
What a beautiful birth story to a beautiful baby girl! I am so happy you were brave and had her VBAC. You are amazing! Beautiful pictures of your family!
Thank you Lena :). It was such a beautiful experience compared to the first c-section; holding her right away and hearing her cry rather than waking up shaking and freezing cold in a strange room after a c-section. I’m so thankful to have been able to have a successful VBAC 🙂
Congratulations on the safe arrival of baby Diana..you chose a lovely name, and I love your recipe ‘s and blog. God Bless…Diana Barker…
Thank you so much Diana. Is there any particular reason you like the name? 😉
Congratulations on your beautiful daughter and successful VBAC! I was able to VBAC with my second son. My first son was born via C-section due to non progression and I really think it’s because I had an epidural too soon :-/ There hasn’t been a more proud moment for me than being able to birth naturally. I’m hoping to have another natural delivery for our baby girl that is due beginning of June 🙂 Share lots of pictures of Diana and David, they are so adorable together. Can’t wait to see my boys with their baby sister. God’s blessings to you and your family!
I’ve heard that from several gals that getting the epidural too soon had halted some labors. Congratulations on your baby girl! God bless the rest of your pregnancy and delivery! 🙂
Natasha! Congrats to you and your family! Your baby girl is absolutely adorable.
Thank you so much Sveta 🙂
Congratulations to you for the gift from Allah and to Diana to have a beautiful Mum like you and God bless you all as a happy family.
Thank you Salman. God has blessed our family so much 🙂
Congratulations…….Diana is beautiful! Blessings to all.
Thank you so much Gail 🙂
Congratulations! You have a beautiful family. You have many memories. I’m a mother of 4 sons (all grown men now) and enjoyed every minute of it!
Dot
Time goes too quickly, doesn’t it? I’m savoring every moment with her in her tiny stage.
What a beautiful family – Congratulations! I think Diana will love having David as her big brother! Thank you for sharing and may God bless you always.
Julia thank you so much :). David is a very sweet and caring big brother. I love seeing how he acts around her 🙂
Congratulations! I know from personal 3 times, that is the best feeling holding that newborn in your arms ( I think I cried every time). I hope Diana grows healthy, happy, beautiful, talented and brings you and your family lots of joy!
It’s such a beautiful burst of emotions and joy. Thank you so much Dorina 🙂
CONGRATS! God bless your beautiful family.
“The Lord bless you, and keep you
The Lord make his face shine upon you,

I was looking up a recipe for an angel food trifle and found your site by accident – the cake is for my daughter’s 19th birthday tomorrow, and I loved reading about the birth of your daughter and remembering the joy of bringing a baby into the world. Lea is my firstborn and I have two sons now as well, and the love just grows stronger and stronger. I’m happy to discover your site and find inspiration and good recipes to make meal times family time and keep them healthy too. Thank you Natasha and blessings on your family!
Thank you so much Wendy and happy birthday to your daughter! I’m sure you find it hard to believe she’s 19! Children grow up way too fast. I want time to stand still so I can just enjoy these young stages longer :). Our first child, I was always thinking about the next stage and when crawling or walking or something else would come, but I’m basking in the now this time around 🙂
CONGRAGTS NATASHA!!! I’m so happy for you and your family:)I was tearing up while looking at the beautiful pictures. God has Blessed you and may he continue Blessings you and your beautiful family. You have such a beautiful baby girl-Dianachka.(I have a sister named Diana, she also has black hair, lol.)

He is very sweet with her. I caught him singing to her in her cradle this afternoon 🙂
Natasha, congratulations on the birth of your beautiful daughter Diana.
Thank you so much Irene 🙂
Natasha, first of all Congratulations! She’s so precious. God works in mysterious ways. I know someone who’s first delivery was an emergency c section. She had her other babies naturally, went into labor very overdue on her scheduled C section days because the doctors said induction for VBAC is very risky.
So good to hear that you had your baby naturally. God Bless you and your little bundle of joy. I get misty eyed looking through the pictures. My little one is almost one.
Congratulations on your little one! That’s so very exciting :). Thank you for your sweet comment.
Hey we got the same name!!!

Absolutely beautiful family and story. You are so blessed! Every life is a miracle from God. Congratulations!!

Oh, I am so happy for you all! God answers prayers in the most miraculous ways. I’ve been praying for you as well.
As another Ukrainian (and Russian) foodie, I’ve followed your blog for quite a while now. Your recipes are fantastic, and your family stories are so heartwarming. The parts about your son brought be to tears (emotional foodies… the next level). Make sure you rest as much as you can these next few weeks. No extra blogging, ha ha!
Maybe we’ll be seeing baby food recipes in a few months? 😉
Thank you so much for your prayers and for thinking of us 🙂 I am trying to rest but I’m kind of a restless rester. A series on baby food would be fun 🙂
OMG Natasha she is just perfection!! I’m so happy for your family that everything went well with labor and delivery and that God blessed u guys with a beautiful and healthy daugher! We have a 5 year old son and a 22month daugher and let me tell u that having a daugher is just the most special feeling and I’m sure ull agree
We were so excited about having a girl too. It’s such a blessing to have one of each 🙂
Natasha, thank you for sharing!
It is such a wonderful story. Such a beautiful family!
🙂 Thank you
Congratulations Natasha!! She is beautiful!! ❤️
Thanks so much 🙂
She is beautiful! Happy to hear your labor went well and baby is healthy!! The pictures are so sweet ♡ may God bless you and your beautiful family.
Yes, we have so much to be thankful for. Thank you Svetlana 🙂
She’s so freakin’ precious! That head of hair and bow is priceless and so is the pic of you putting on makeup 🙂 Love it! That would be me, except paining my nails or something like that.
I can’t get enough of her hair. It’s so soft and silky and dark (almost black) like her Grandpas. Thanks Katya 🙂
Congrats on your beautiful bundle of joy! Shes a beauty! I have the same exact picture of me in the hospital doing my makeup. lol My mom was with me along with my husband and she kept laughing in disbelieve that i was doing my makeup. So i just sent her a picture of you saying “see mom im not alone” lol
Ha ha that’s funny you sent it to your Mom :).
Congratulations on your beautiful addition to your family! You have been such a blessing with amazing food thank you so much! Hope she will be as a great of a cook as her mama! God bless! 🙂
Thank you so much for your sweet comment. You’re so welcome. I’m glad to hear you are enjoying the recipes 🙂
CONGRATULATIONS, Natasha!! Such a wonderful blessing! Children are indeed a blessing from the Lord! I loved your post and you made me cry just looking at the pictures and reading your amazing story. You are a beautiful mommy to two precious children!
Neli thank you so much. You’re so sweet :). God is so so good and his mercy and love are endless. 🙂
Congratulations on your little blessing!!! Diana is a beauty!!! Im so happy that you had a good pregnancy and delivery. I also wanted to hug my mom and tell her how much I loved her for having me and my 5 siblings!! I never knew how painful labor is until I had both my children. Not to mention that my mom drove me to the hospital when my first child was born because my husband was still working. She was outside the door during the whole process, crying. Thankfully, I only found that out after my son was born. Because I don’t think I would have survived if I knew. My husband did make it in time to see his son born, whew. And I agree with you that support from your husband is important and helpful. It seems so much easier when he is holding your hand through it all 🙂 Children are a blessing from God. Enjoy this special time. Wishing you a fast recovery.
Oh my goodness yes it is a good thing you found out after – that’s a tough thing to wrap your mind around. A mother’s love is endless. I’m so happy to hear your husband made it in time – it would be incredibly difficult not to have your hubby there. Thank you so much for sharing your story and for your sweet words 🙂
Congratulations, Natasha and family! It’s always SO uplifting to hear about another baby’s safe arrival. From here on out it will probably be all about the baby, but YOU (and your mom too) are amazing, Natasha! Not a task easily forgotten, LOL. Praise the Lord for perfect timing and supportive birth teams.
I love the name, too. I know another David and Diana family (Russian-speaking), and my little boy is David. Maybe a little Diana (or maybe Dasha) will join our family one day. A girl can dream!
My husband won with both names – he’s the baby namer in the family but I love his choices and I thought they were better than the ones I had. 🙂 Thank you so much for your thoughtful comment 🙂
Congratulations Natasha!! I wanted to tell you how grateful I am to have found your blog! I’m not good at cooking and it’s been hard since I got married. My husband (He is from Tajikistan) and I ( from Malaysia ) we have a very different cultures in cuisine. He is all about breads and potatoes, and I’m all about rice and noodles. I’m a full time mom now ( have a 4 months old baby girl ), and I’ve been trying to learn how to cook! Since I found your blog, I had made the Roasted Salsa and the Eggplant caviar based on your recipe and they were awesome!!! I have impressed my hubby 🙂 lol Thank you so much for sharing your recipes! Your baby girl is adorable! God bless you and your family!!
I’m so happy you found my blog too and are enjoying the recipes. I feel like I’ve made a new friend. Congratulations on your baby girl 🙂
Aweeee she is adorable <3

Squishy lol. I love her cheeks- they’re so kissable! Thank you so much and may God give you the desires of your heart 🙂
She is beautiful my friend. Many, many blessings upon her life and what a great story of how Powerful our God is!. Thank you for sharing!. =)
Valentina thank you so much :-). God is so good and we are definitely counting our blessings 🙂
Blessings to you and your family!!! My son was also born 7.8 lbs, but he was 19.5″ long. I gave birth naturally and yes, painful, but totally worth it and is possible. Thankful to God that everything worked out with you to the best! May god Bless you FOURSOME!!!
By the way, one beautiful precious girl you got there!!! <3
Olga thank you so much! 🙂 At how many weeks did you deliver your little guy?
He was due Sept. 11, but came sooner, Sept. 7. We live by the spokane river-centenial trail, and i would stroll there a lot. Also i went to camp being 8 months and lived in a tent for 3 nights. Rough! Going to the restroom at night, crawling out of the tent, what a blast! Anyways… got a little carried away… 😉
Such lovely photos and an amazing story! I was induced both times so I understand how great it must’ve felt to go into labour naturally! Praying blessings on all of you as you transition into a family of 4! Diana is one gorgeous little girl. Well done, Natasha and Vadim! 😉
Thank you so much Julia! We are so thankful to have her and for the way she was born especially after our experience the first time around. In the end, we’re thankful for healthy and happy children :-).
Congrats! She is adorable! God bless!
Such a precious little angel!
We think so too :-). Thank you!
Congratulations! I’m so happy for you! I wish you all the best! 🙂
Thank you so much Gergana. By the way I love your name!!
It’s bulgarian… 😉
Beautiful!
Your post made me tear-up :’)
I’m 33 weeks pregnant with a baby girl & it’s so precious to see a healthy, blessed baby girl & happy family :))
I’m so happy for you Natashen’ka, May God richly bless your family!!
May God bless the rest of your pregnancy and your sweet baby girl! May he give you the desires of your heart and bless you with a wonderful experience having your baby girl.
So lovely! Thank you for sharing! 🙂
Thank you Sarah 🙂
Congratulations to you and your family! Diana is adorable and for someone who has given birth recently you definitely look fantastic, wow! You’re blessed with wonderful genes 🙂 Ukrainian women are exceptionally beautiful! I had C-section in a small town in Ukraine, (I’m a foreigner) back then I knew only a few words in Russian – you won’t imagine what I had been through. I don’t know what could have happened if it wasn’t for God’s miracle! Certainly, children are a gift from the Lord!
Hi Cher, I cannot even imagine what kind of experience a C-section in Ukraine would have been. Praise God he helped you through it! I am definitely thankful for modern medicine in the US. I was just commenting about that to my husband the other day. thank you for your kind words. 🙂
our oldest son is turning 10 this year, everyday he reminds me of how great our God is! I so love your blog and your videos, I hope to see more…thank you!!!
🙂 Yes God is so good and I think we understand His heart more since we became parents.
What an amazing story and miracle God has blessed you with! I am beyond excited for you and am certainly praising the Lord with you ;). You looked absolutely glowing during your pregnancy, but it doesn’t even compare to the way you’re lighting up in the pictures whilst holding your baby girl. So sweet! Enjoy every minute with your beautiful family. Also, I absolutely love her name!!

I am in awe of those photos! They capture the moment perfectly 🙂 Congrats on your daughter, she is a beauty! This makes me want another little one soon! 😉 It is amazing that you had a Christian doctor, that really does make the labor that much easier, although still painful!
I actually didn’t know she was Christian or that she prayed for her patients when my son was born. My sister told me that afterwards. She has been my Doc for both babies and she delivered all of my sisters children. I guess you could say she’s our family Doctor. 🙂 I’m so thankful to have her.
That is awesome to know! God works in wonderful ways 🙂
