We sold our first home about 2 1/2 years ago and have since lived with my parents. I’ve been counting down the days until I could write this moving day post. We are beyond excited and created a Video of the big day.

Moving day was really more like moving week! There is still so much to do and decorate but we are nearly unpacked. I’m sharing some photos below from our new space.

THANK YOU MOM AND DAD!

First of all, thank you Mom and Dad for letting us live with you for the past 2 1/2 years. We have lived and worked in my parents house so we were ALWAYS around and Mom had to give up her kitchen every Thursday for a good chunk of the day so we could do our filming and even after 2 1/2 years of that, they always made us feel welcome and loved.

We will always treasure the time we spent there and the memories we made there with our kiddos. Our baby girl was less than a year old when we moved in and is now 3. Our son was 6 and just turned 9!

Our First House

We lived in our first home for 13 years. When we sold it, we thought we’d move quickly into the next house as we had identified something but it sold just before our closing date. We were bummed but kept on looking.

House Hunting

The whole time we were house hunting, the market was hot and the housing inventory was low. It was a stressful time of searching, going from one season to another without finding a home, spending one Christmas and then the next Christmas not in our own house.

Not knowing when we would actually find our dream home while watching the prices soar was hard and discouraging. It was an emotional roller coaster really. After a year and a half of searching and coming up short, we considered building.

Finding the Building Lot:

Our lot was the first lot we called the builders sign on when we were house hunting and he initially said that someone had already reserved it so we moved on. Then we put an offer on a truly gorgeous house that was a big stretch for us, but someone from out of state got the house instead.

There’s a reason why they say not to fall in love with a house, but of course I already figured where my Christmas tree would be so I was heartbroken. At a really low point I had asked God about it and He told me (not in an audible voice but in my Spirit), “I have something better for you.” and I thought: God – HOW?? I was curious for sure but didn’t know how something better was possible because that house; I’m telling you was awesome.

Shortly after we received the bad news that the house was sold to someone else, we got a call from the same builder that the original lot we called about months ago was now available. I am 100% convinced God had saved it just for us. Vadim and I both knew it and immediately put a deposit on the lot. There was no wavering.

The Building Process

Building a house is no walk in the park. People tried to tell us it was WORK, but it’s kind of like explaining how much it takes to raise children to someone who has never experienced that before. I have never made so many decisions as I have in the past year, but it sure is awesome to look at the house we built and realize I had a say in everything from the floor to the ceiling. I’m a little bit of a control freak which made the process harder for me because I had an opinion about everything. lol.

breaking ground on our new home family standing with shovels

We broke ground in October 2017 and the house was finished August 2018. It’s so neat to look back at the lot when it was just dirt and now to look out the window from our house to see grass and everything looking so beautiful. P.S. Our landscaper did an amazing job and I’ll share more about the yard in another post.

We’ve shared a ton of progress photos from our building process here and on Instagram @natashaskitchen (follow us on Instagram if you don’t already, where we share personal stories and updates). We love that you all get so excited with us and share in our joy. It really means a lot to us.

MOVING DAY!!

Watch our Moving Day Vlog (our first vlog ever!) I’m no Casey Neistat (yet) lol, but it was fun to do a vlog.

P.S. See that shirt I’m sporting? My friend has an inspiring story and purpose behind her new shop and is offering a special 15% OFF and FREE shipping to our readers with the code: Natashaskitchen. Enter that code when you shop on HelloBeautyFullCo.com.

My best piece of moving advice is to get a set of these moving straps (our Amazon affiliate link). They are so useful and are much easier on your back. See how happy the guys look when using them? 😉

The New (DREAM) Kitchen

This is where all of our future food videos will be filmed. It is everything I imagined it would be and more (it’s huge!). It’s humbling to stand in this kitchen compared to our first kitchen. We are working on decorating this space and the whole house to make it homey.

Our appliances are from Thermador and I feel like I could do a blog post just on the appliances. They are so dreamy!
