Since our first oven baked salmon recipe went viral in the land of Pinterest (over 580,000 pins to date), I figured you all loved it. 🙂 Well, here’s the next big thing.
This glazed salmon recipe comes from the same Katya who shared her cherry filled cupcakes with us. Her family lives in WA and this is their favorite way of preparing salmon. As we know, salmon is huge in the Seattle area (my rainy home town). Enjoy this juicy and easy oven baked salmon recipe!
Can I tell you a story?
Well, I’m going to anyway. My family went fishing for salmon in the Puget Sound several times (on our 17-foot Sea Ray boat) when I was a kid. We were in the puget sound one day trolling for salmon and were surrounded by a dense fog.
We heard a low and deep horn, but of course, we couldn’t see a lick through that fog. All of a sudden, a great black wall passed just feet from our boat. It was a huge barge that sent a decent wave of water into our boat. I’m certain there were angels around us that day.
I have lots and lots of fishing stories. We went crab catching on that same boat, caught sharks, sea rays, and all kinds of strange creatures. What an exciting place to fish (except for nearly dying). Growing up in Seattle was quite an adventure.
Um, yes, where was I? This glazed salmon has a well-seasoned, tangy crust and it’s way too easy to make! Happy pinning! 😉
Ingredients for Oven Baked Glazed Salmon
2 lbs fresh salmon
1/2 tsp salt (we love sea salt)
1/8 tsp granulated sugar
1/8 tsp ground black pepper
1/8 tsp garlic powder
1/8 tsp paprika
1/3 cup mayonnaise
1 lemon, sliced
How to Make the Best Oven Baked Salmon:
Preheat the Oven to 350˚F. Line a large rimmed baking sheet with parchment paper for easy cleanup.
1. In a small ramekin, combine 1/2 tsp salt, 1/8 tsp sugar, 1/8 tsp black pepper, 1/8 tsp garlic powder, 1/8 tsp paprika and mix. Sprinkle the top of your salmon evenly with your seasoning mix.
2. Spread with a thin layer of mayo. It really just needs a little. Don’t slather it on. A little goes a long way in this recipe. Top with slices of lemon. Cover with foil and bake at 350˚F for 20 min. Remove foil and broil an extra 3 minutes or so to get a nice golden crust on the top.
How lovely and it makes such a beautiful presentation for company!
Bada Bing Bada Boom. Enjoy this oven baked glazed salmon!

Would this work for tilapia?
I haven’t tried it, but I think it would work. Tilapia is a thinner fish usually though so make a lighter layer of the topping and don’t bake as long. 🙂
Making it again! So good! I can’t remember how many times I prepared this recipe. This time I am having some green beans on a side with it! As always thank you, Natasha!
This salmon would be perfect with green beans 🙂 Yum!
Another amazing recipe! The whole fish was gone in one sitting 🙂 Thanks Natasha, we are big on fish! This hit just the right spot 😉
You are welcome Roxanne, and thank you for a good report :).
Hey Natasha! could I use the unfrozen salmon fish fillets with these ingredients?
it doesn’t make a difference which fish I use does it?
as long as its salmon or it could be other fish too?
You could use other fish. No problem! 🙂
I made this on Sunday. It was really good; however, next time I plan to season the whole salmon and spread a little more mayo (felt like 1/3 cup wasn’t enough). Thanks for the recipe.
Did you have a thicker piece of salmon? I did not season the backside of the salmon because I usually discard the skin. You can definitely season the whole thing. 🙂 i’m so glad you enjoyed it!
Wow, what a story! I would be so scared. You fished for your own salmon – how cool is that! Beautiful meal – pinned!
Thank you Julia. You are awesome!!
We absolutely loved it! Thanks for sharing this recipe is a keeper! And super easy!
Yes!!! I’m always so happy to hear that someone has enjoyed a recipe from my blog 🙂 thanks for reporting back!
The salmon looks great!
Do you have the recipe for the rice dish in the picture that goes with the Salmon recipe?
I’m working on getting the recipe. There’s a lot of interest in the rice! 🙂
Hey Natasha! For the broiling part, do we keep it at 350 or raise the temp?
I just switched the temperature setting to a “broil” and placed it on the top rack. Hope this helps :).
I’ve been living in Seattle for 25 yrs now and LOVE it here ! 🙂
Where in Seattle did you live ?
Our address was Seattle 🙂 South Park! 🙂
The salmon looks delicious. But can you also post the rice next to it as well. That would be great. Thanks.
It’s funny how many requests I’ve had for the rice! I’ll try to get the recipe, or just re-create it! 🙂
PS. I told you, you have lots of great stories.:)
Seems like you go fishing as well, The best salmon is the one you catch your self :).
Wow, that’s a crazy story, Natasha!!! WOW. I didn’t know you lived in Seattle. Living in Vancouver, with the same weather conditions like in Seattle, we go down to Seattle a lot. And yes, salmon is huge here. I’m buried in salmon to my ears now. This week I made spring salmon we caught in Tofino (Vancouver Island). I made it with peanut butter & miso glaze. Trying to add variety to our salmon feasts every week. It was OMG. I should try your Dijon one. Over 45K pins, wow! This one looks amazing too. I just need to find substitution for mayo.:) I know, me and my mayo issues…LOL
Great timing Natsha! Got salmon out of the freezer this morning, to prepare for dinner tonight, and just got the email of your new post, gonna use your recipe. Thank you :).
Great timing indeed :). Let me know how it turns out.
5 Star recipe! So delish!
yes!! I’m so glad you enjoyed it 🙂
This looks delicious, Natasha! Do you also have a recipe for the rice on this photo?
That rice is getting popular 😉 I’ll get the recipe from my sister (she had too much and sent some to our house!).
I’ve never been fishing before but that surely does sound like an adventure!
Salmon is awesome. I love how the glaze is simple and still lets the salmon flavor shine. 🙂
Thank you Tina, I will remember those adventures for a lifetime :).
Love salmon! This is the similar recipe to mine. It’s delicious!!! I did not know you were from Seattle. Really interesting fishing story (scary).
Thanks for the nice recipe.
You are welcome Liz, I never get tired of eating salmon :).
Making this for Sunday dinner!!! So excited! Thank you Natasha!!!!!!!:))))
Where do u usually buy the fresh salmon? Costco?
You are welcome Alana :). Costco would be the first place I would look for salmon.
Mmmm, another delicious looking salmon recipe 😀 I make the other one quite often (we don’t eat meat on Fridays so these fish recipes are wonderful!). I love the simple ingredients too! Definitely going on my to-try list!! Thank you!
Thank you Julia, I would love to hear how it turns out when you’ll make it :).
