One of my readers suggested I try Brazilian lemonade so I did and loved it! Then I spent several days making it kid-friendly, with no chance of bitterness, and giving it a longer life expectancy.

This is my version of Brazilian Limeade. I made it for our family pool party over the weekend and it was a hit! You’ll be surprised by the list of ingredients. It’s so crisp, refreshing and and has a unique flavor. It’s a really exciting summer party drink and it’s fun to watch people try it for the first time.

It goes something like this: look of intrigue followed by “mmm that’s really good!” It’s smooth and has a fun frothy layer that reminds me of the fancy drinks we had on our honeymoon in Mexico.

Tips for success:

Select fresh limes with thin, smooth skins as they are the juiciest. Many people leave on the skins, cut the limes in 1/8ths and toss them directly into the blender, but my way of making it prevent the chances of getting a bitter drink. We figured it’s better to take the extra 3 minutes to juice ’em.

Ingredients for Brazilian Lemonade:

7 cups cold water
3/4 cup granulated sugar
1 cup fresh lime juice (from 5 limes)
1 Tbsp lime zest (from 1 of the limes)
1/2 cup sweetened condensed milk Ice to serve

What you’ll need:

(1) A blender,

(2) a pretty pitcher (I love the “100% Soda Lime Glass Pitcher” that I purchased from our local JCPenney)

(3) serving glasses. Have you explored the JCPenney home collection? They have loads of great summer entertaining gear.

How to Make Brazilian Limeade (Lemonade):

1. Stir together 7 cups cold water with 3/4 cup sugar and set aside

2. Add 1 Tbsp lime zest and juice from 5 limes into your blender jar (it’s super fast to juice limes if you have a citrus squeezer like this one). Pour 3 cups of your sugar water into the blender (I only add 3 cups at this time so my blender doesn’t splash all over the place)

3. Add 1/2 cup sweetened condensed milk. Blend until smooth and frothy. Stir in remaining sugar water and serve over ice

such a refreshing drink!! thank you. But I’d probably omit the lime zest next time, wasn’t crazy about the pieces floating around (my blender didn’t quit blend them, lol).

It would still taste great without them. I think it’s just a little closer to the Brazilian version with the lime zest. 🙂

My favorite thing to do in the summer is to play on a CA beach with my 3 yr old grandchild Emma. It will be a first time this August as well as her being my first grand-kiddle. Thanks Sargeant Shawn Weeks (marine)!

Thanks for the giveaway! I love summer. I love to swim and that’s my #1 favorite thing. Anything to do with water. May it be the ocean, lake or pool. Teaching my kiddos to swim or riding jet skis with my hubby. That freahing feeling on my skin on a hot afternoon doesn’t get any better!

    Hello Natasha,

What I love about summer is watching all the vegetables and fruits coming alive in the garden, limited amount of time carpooling the kids, reading books, and having lots of fun with the kids. The warm weather is a plus, too!!
