One of my readers suggested I try Brazilian lemonade so I did and loved it! Then I spent several days making it kid-friendly, with no chance of bitterness, and giving it a longer life expectancy.

This is my version of Brazilian Limeade. I made it for our family pool party over the weekend and it was a hit! You’ll be surprised by the list of ingredients. It’s so crisp, refreshing and and has a unique flavor. It’s a really exciting summer party drink and it’s fun to watch people try it for the first time.

It goes something like this: look of intrigue followed by “mmm that’s really good!” It’s smooth and has a fun frothy layer that reminds me of the fancy drinks we had on our honeymoon in Mexico.

Tips for success:

Select fresh limes with thin, smooth skins as they are the juiciest. Many people leave on the skins, cut the limes in 1/8ths and toss them directly into the blender, but my way of making it prevent the chances of getting a bitter drink. We figured it’s better to take the extra 3 minutes to juice ’em.

Ingredients for Brazilian Lemonade:

7 cups cold water
3/4 cup granulated sugar
1 cup fresh lime juice (from 5 limes)
1 Tbsp lime zest (from 1 of the limes)
1/2 cup sweetened condensed milk Ice to serve

What you’ll need:

(1) A blender,

(2) a pretty pitcher (I love the “100% Soda Lime Glass Pitcher” that I purchased from our local JCPenney)

(3) serving glasses. Have you explored the JCPenney home collection? They have loads of great summer entertaining gear.

How to Make Brazilian Limeade (Lemonade):

1. Stir together 7 cups cold water with 3/4 cup sugar and set aside

2. Add 1 Tbsp lime zest and juice from 5 limes into your blender jar (it’s super fast to juice limes if you have a citrus squeezer like this one). Pour 3 cups of your sugar water into the blender (I only add 3 cups at this time so my blender doesn’t splash all over the place)

3. Add 1/2 cup sweetened condensed milk. Blend until smooth and frothy. Stir in remaining sugar water and serve over ice

Oh summer, there’s so much to do but so little time. I must say camping always been one of our favorite thing about summer, those long-warm-summer nights by campfire and munching on those toasty smores.. Mmmmmm…
