The Mr. and I made a goal to purposefully use more seasonal fruits and veggies this year. We’ve been coming up with all kinds of ways to use up the peaches from mom’s tree.
We re-visited and updated the Peach apricot crumble recipe, you probably saw the lattice peach pie, and now this. Although there weren’t a ton of them, the peaches seemed extra big and super juicy this year. They were delicious in this salsa.
I like that peach salsa is a little less acidic than a regular tomato salsa. Not only is it delicious as an appetizer with tortilla chips, it’s also really good as a topping for fish or pork; who would have thought?
Ingredients for Peach Salsa
1 lb tomatoes, diced
1 bell pepper (4 oz), seeded and finely diced
2 jalapenos, seeded and finely diced
1 medium onion, finely diced
1 1/2 lbs peaches, diced
1/2 bunch cilantro, chopped
2 Tbsp lime juice
1/2 tsp salt, or to taste
1/4 tsp freshly ground black pepper or to taste
How To Make Fresh Peach Salsa Recipe:
1. Chop tomatoes and transfer them to a large bowl (yep, thats the Vidalia Chop Wizard; it made this salsa so easy!).
2. Finely chop seeded bell pepper and jalapeños. Finely chop onion and transfer all your veggies to the bowl.
3. Dice the peaches. I liked the slightly larger dice for peaches to give them more of the center stage in this salsa. No need to peel them. You won’t notice the peels and the color is prettier with the peel on. Transfer peaches to your bowl.
4. Add 1/2 bunch Chopped cilantro, 2 Tbsp lime juice, 1 1/2 tsp salt and 1/4 tsp pepper. Add more salt and pepper to taste if desired. Fold everything together until well mixed and enjoy with your favorite tortilla chips or serve with fish or pork.

What’s your favorite salsa?
Hi Natasha!! I just made this recipe and canned it to keep in the pantry. SO good!!! Thank you for this great recipe, and I will be making it again next year.
You’re welcome, good to know that you liked it!
I bought fresh peaches and want to make peach salsa, can I freeze salsa?
I understand that it will be wetter, but I could drain the extra juice.
Hi Helena! I have not frozen this to advise but generally, Fresh Salsa does not freeze well. If you experiment, let us know how it goes.
Good recipe! Since I had the smoker going I fire roasted the jalapeños, halved and grilled the peaches and omitted the red bell peppers (didn’t have one) and it was terrific. I also add a bit more lime juice. The grilling definitely added and next time I’ll fire roast the red bell peppers too. Made the smoked pork carnitas street tacos a winner.
That sounds amazing! 🙂 Thanks for sharing, Mike.
Just wondering if this recipe can be canned? Preserved? And if so, how?
Thank you for the recipe! It is delicious. How long will it keep in the fridge?
Hi Debbie, it is great for a couple of days and tends to get soft after that. I hope you love the peach salsa!
I love this recipe and wherever I bring It at least 2 people will ask for the recipe. I canned 2 jars and opened them both up this year and it went bad. If I am canning am I suppose to do or add something. i just went peach picking and have 92# Thank you
Thank you so much for getting back to me I really appreciate it. I will try and do it again and I’m happy that you said that I can The recipe .This is the best peach salsa I’ve ever had
You’re welcome! I’m so glad you loved it!
Would it translate to canning? If I cook for 5 – 10 minutes then water bath can for 10 minutes?
Forgot to say the fresh salsa was a huge hit at a party, everyone raved about it. I added extra jalapeños.
Great to hear that, Laura!
Hi Laura. I have not tried canning this to advise.
I would cut the onion in half. When I tasted it, the onion overpowered all the other flavors. I had to pick a good portion of the minced onion out so it took a long time.
Before I put it in the fridge (to serve with tonight’s grilled chicken) I made the mistake of tasting this with lime tortilla chips. OH YEAH. This recipe is a definate keeper. Tonight having it over grilled chicken breasts and wild rice. I know it will be a hit!
I’m so glad you found a keeper, Nana!
This was delicious! I made it tonight with some fresh peaches and used it as a relish for fresh red snapper. Oh my goodness! I can’t wait until dinner again tomorrow night.
That’s wonderful! So glad you enjoyed this recipe.
I have a bunch of peaches left to use, so I am going to make another batch and try freezing it. I’m thinking everything should freeze fine except for the tomatoes, so I’ll omit those and add those when I defrost it during the winter months for a little taste of summer.
Hi Amy! I would love to know how that works, let us know if you experiment. 🙂
How did freezing it work out? Have you tried it yet? Would way rather freeze than figure out the canning process.
Made this for my office and everyone LOVED it. Thank you!
That’s just awesome! Thank you for sharing your wonderful review, Tiffany! I’m so glad this was a hit!
It’s delicious! My husband and I are lightweights, so I skipped the jalapenos. I sprinkled a bit of chili powder to give it a slight kick. And I put some in a jar for a birthday present next week!
Sounds good, Laura. Glad to hear that the recipe was a success!
My sister made me this and then I requested the recipe to make it myself…minus the cilantro and jalapeños. I just shared some with my dad. It’s soooooo delicious with chips. So fresh and full of colour. Great way to use my garden produce.
I’m so glad you enjoyed it, Kristi! Thank you for the wonderful review!
I just can’t imagine a peach salsa (or any sweet fruit) without the heat. It’s all about sweet heat isn’t it?
I have made this several times in the last couple of weeks. It’s amazing!!
Glad you always enjoy this recipe, Linda!
Anyone try this with canned peaches?
Hi Sheryl, I haven’t tried that yet to advise but I imagine that should work too!
Hi! made this for a taco dinner for my family last night and everyone adored it. Used halved cherry tomatoes, some fresh Michigan peaches, and only a tiny bit of hot pepper to keep it mild for everyone. It was a delicious salsa that I enjoyed as kind of a side salad more than anything. Thanks!
I’m so happy you enjoyed this recipe! Thank you for this wonderful feedback!
This was wonderful! I used a little less onion and it was fantastic. Nice change to sweet salsa. Thanks for the recipe!
You’re welcome! I’m so happy you enjoyed it, Bernadette!
Made this for my grandson’s first birthday party yesterday. Delicious but I would use less salt next time, especially serving with salty nacho chips. I used about 1 1/4 tsp this time. I also used a red onion.
Thanks for all of the great recipes!
Thank you so much for sharing that with me.
Made this salsa and served with Natasha’s fish taco recipe. So good! Really flavorful salsa, used leftover salsa for breakfast tacos!
That’s just awesome!! Thank you for sharing your wonderful review, Heather!
How long can you keep this
Can it be put into jars
We got carried away
Hi Gayle, it is great for a couple of days and tends to get soft after that. I hope you love the peach salsa!
