This crab salad is my trademark dish; I usually make this for parties and family gatherings because it is so easy and quick to make.
If it doesn’t disappear by the end of the meal it’s only because I made way too much! The secret to the great flavor is in the horseradish sauce.
Ingredients for the Crab Salad:
1 ½ pounds imitation crab meat (chopped – using a knife or food processor)
6 or 7 hard boiled eggs (diced)
1 small onion (finely diced)
1 cup mayonnaise
1 tsp cream-style horseradish sauce
1 (15 oz) can corn (well-drained)
1 (15 oz) can peas (well-drained)
How to make Crab Salad:
1. Prepare all of the ingredients by chopping 1 1/2 lb of crab meat, dicing 6 hard boiled eggs, dicing 1 small onion and adding 1 can of drained and rinsed corn. Add them to a large bowl.
2. Add 1 cup of mayo and 1 tsp of horseradish sauce, than mix everything together.
3. Finally fold in the peas. Adding peas last, keeps them from breaking.
Add more mayo and horseradish to taste.
Notes: A food processor is not necessary, but it makes the recipe even faster and easier to make. You can cut the recipe in half if you are making it for a smaller crowd.

I’ve been making this salad for years and didn’t realize it was your recipe! Only difference is I have been using garlic instead of horseradish (easier access).
Tried it with horseradish and love it as well!.
Thank you so much for sharing that with us Angelina!

Hi Walter, I haven’t tried that combination but I think it would be worth experimenting! 🙂
Another recipe from you and another winner! Wow is this brilliant!
I increased the eggs 4 hard boiled and 2 tablespoons of horseradish, other than that, excellent recipe that will be a regular, thank you once again.

Hi Vika, sorry for the late reply – it’s been a really long day! yes it is ok to mix everything together. This salad keeps really well refrigerated overnight.
Thanks for the recipe, my in laws always ask to bring a crab salad, glad to have different variations of it to choose from!
You are welcome Anna, I’m glad you like the recipe 😀.

Yes! That would be awesome: natashaskitchen@yahoo .com (no spaces). Excited!!! 🙂
Which crab salad would you pick if u had to pick one? This recipe or the other one that u have posted?
We’ve made this one way more often. I guess I’d lean more toward this one, although the other one is definitely worth trying 🙂
Just made this salad! One of my favorites. My mom and grandmas in Ukraine always add napa cabbage as well. That way it is fresh and yummi.
Thank you for the great review Kateryna, I’m glad you enjoyed it :).
I made this salad with no peas and added mandolin sliced cabbage and it turned out sooooo goood! cabbage adds that crunch and makes it more light 🙂
Mmmm I love your changes! Sounds so fresh and crisp and nice! 🙂
I have not been disappointed with any of your recipes so far. =) (which is awesome=) ) So i will try this salad as well even though i love my recipe of it A LOT. I make mine with hard-boiled eggs, imitation crab meat , canned corn and fresh cucumbers, as always mixed with mayo, salt and pepper.
I love the idea of adding fresh cucumber! It reminds me of my other crab salad: https://natashaskitchen.com/2013/12/02/crab-salad-with-cucumber-and-tomato-recipe/
Can i substitute crab meat for tuna?
Thanks
I haven’t tried with tuna but it would b a completely different salad with a different texture. Without trying it myself, I can’t really recommend it.
I made this salad for a family get-together. I loved the mayo/horseradish combination, but we all decided that we didnt like the peas so much. Im going to make it again today but will try substituting fresh cucumbers instead of peas. Thanks for the recipe!
Have you tried my other crab salad? It has cucumbers and it’s so so tasty! 🙂
Delicious!!!Thanks again 😉
Natasha have you ever thought about posting a homemade mayo recipe? Just a thought…..
That’s a great thought! I’ll add it to the list 🙂

Made this salad a few times and I love it. Thank You sharing!
You are welcome Yana, I’m glad you enjoy it :).
I will try next time horseradish, sound interesting. I do not use green peas for this salad, but I add very little fresh cucumber.
I love the idea of using fresh cucumber. Thanks for sharing!!
Just wanted to tell you that I made this & hubby and I have been eating it for 3 days now 😀 It’s delicious! It’s much lighter than the traditional Olivie without the potatoes & carrots which I really liked! Saving for my recipe binder. All your stuff is delicious. Thanks for the hard work you put into this website!
Oh I haven’t made this salad in awhile. Thanks for the reminder! 🙂 I’m so glad you liked the salad. It’s always been one of my favorites.
Hi Natasha –
I was wondering if there’s anything you can substitute the mayonnaise with that won’t compromise the taste? Not a huge fan of mayo! My grandma has made it with sour cream before, and I liked it a lot, but wondering if there are any other suggestions!
Thank you!
I have always made it with mayo, haven’t explored any other options :). You can use vegan mayo.
This is a great salad. I make mine a little different. I substitute the peas for some fresh cucumbers! The crunch is a lovely texture in this salad. Try it next time when you make it 🙂 You will like it a lot I think.
Thank you for the suggestion, I will try that for sure :).
Would this salad be OK if i chopped all the ingredients the night before? And just mixing it with the mayo/horseradish and adding the peas the day of?
Totally fine, just refrigerate everything, but you already know that 🙂
