Mmmm salami sandwich… 🙂 When life gets busy, having a few good sandwich recipes up your sleeve is brilliant! I’m generally not big on cold sandwiches so for me to love a sandwich, it has to be pretty awesome.
This salami sandwich literally takes about 5 minutes to put together but it tastes fancy and is so satisfying. It’s perfect for a work or school lunch since you can make it the night before. The spread is cream cheese based so your sandwich won’t get soggy.

Ingredients for 4 Large Salami Sandwiches:
8 oz cream cheese, cold or room temp
1/4 cup finely chopped green onion (fresh or frozen)
1/4 cup finely chopped dill (fresh or frozen)
1 garlic clove, pressed
8 slices of sandwich bread (we used sourdough)
8-10 oz genoa salami
4 large leaves of green lettuce

How to Make a Salami Sandwich with Cream Cheese Spread:
1. In a small bowl, combine 8 oz cream cheese, 1/4 cup green onions, 1/4 cup dill, and press in 1 garlic clove. Mash herbs into the cream cheese until incorporated (P.S. This spread keeps well in the fridge for 3-5 days!)

2. Spread about 1-2 Tbsp of the cream cheese mixture on one side of each bread slice.

3. Top with lettuce and about 6-8 pieces of salami, or to taste, now slap ’em together and enjoy!

Now I have to know – what’s YOUR favorite sandwich?

do i have to add the dill?
You don’t have to add it if you don’t like dill. It adds nice flavor but you could just add a little more chives and make it a chive flavored spread.
Bought the ingredients today to make for lunch tomorrow. Looking forward to this sandwich…..it looks so good! Fantastic photos! Pinned. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you so much Mary! I really appreciate that you pinned it. I hope you really enjoy it! 🙂
Oh really so cute @ that age. Wow she’s almost a year. Good that she has a big brother to protect her and play with her too lol. Yea definitely lemme know how the eggplant and cheese turn out. Just love the combo of veggies and cheese together, especially melted. Keep more recipes coming gurl cheers
Thank you Tzivia 🙂

Hi natasha greetings from ny I must say ur blog and vlogs are really way cool and soooooo awesome. Beautiful family and locations make it really very inviting. Anyhoo that sammie looks soooooo yummmm and delish, however what’s a very good substitute @ I’m a religious jew and cannot mix meat and dairy together. It sorta reminds of the sammie that I made yesterday. I made it with 2 slices of seeded rye bread, a little drop of vinegar and olive oil black pepper a spread of mayo and mustard blended together topped with 3 slices of muenster cheese or whatever cheese u have on hand (am such a hardcore cheese addict lmao) a few slices of beefsteak tomato a few radishes (love them, part of mu Russian blood lol), a few sliced black olives and a few sliced banana peppers for extra spice, cut in half eat yummmm. Also good with a side salad, I cut up some cucs, had some leftover slices from the tomato, and leftover radishes and only a handful of black olives left, made a very awesome tasty healthy side, helluva lot better than fries or rings. Btw it should be called natasha and vadims kitchen lol love how much he helps you out.
Thank you so much for your thoughtful and encouraging comments :). I agree about the name! If I could go back 6 years, I’d name my site something that encompasses my husband too. We are partners in this blog – he does SO MUCH! Thank you for sharing your sandwich idea. That sounds absolutely delicious!!
Ur welcome sweetheart anytime I guess I may have answered my own question about the sammie without realizing it lol. Np my pleasure natasha, sure please do try it out would luv to hear how it turns out. Awwwww sweet, sounds like ur hubby is such a gentleman, who knows maybe in the future the 2 of you will write a Russian cookbook together, I would hope so.
It is one of our goals for the future. We thought it would happen sooner but we’re holding off since we have a baby at home and things are so busy. He is such a good husband and father. I’m truly thankful for him :). Thank you Tzivia!
Awwww wow congrats how old is ur baby, sweet. Btw ur older boy is so cute 2, such personality and charisma for someone vso young. Anyway I totally understand the holding off part, but, do lemme know in the near future, when u guys will do it, cuz u already have a 1 customer lol. Btw ur eggplant sammie looks soooooo yummm and awesome, question don’t remember, did u put cheese pr did u leave it off? I love eggplant and cheese some of my faves lol.
You’re so sweet. Thank you for being my first customer. lol. Our baby girl is 10 months old and our son just adores her. I’m so thankful they have each other. 🙂 I left the cheese out of that one, but I do love the idea of adding it! I completely forgot that is a vegetarian sandwich. I’m a big eggplant fan as well 🙂
I see you can keep the spread for 5 days in the refrigerator. What about the freezer? I’m in a single household.
Hi Bats, to be honest, I haven’ tried freezing it so I’m to sure how it would affect the flavor/texture. I think it would work but once it’s thawed I’d recommend it is consumed within a couple of days.
I want to make this tonight for dinner being that it is so hot here in Cali. I don’t have any fresh or frozen dill but I have dried dill. How much do you think I should use?
I’d use 1/2 tsp of dried dill and let it meld for a little bit. Fresh or frozen is better because it has enough moisture in it, but I think dried could still work.
I tried the dry dill and it turned out great. Everybody loved them. This is definitely a keeper. Thank you so much for the idea. Can’t wait to try some more of your recipes.
As you mentioned earlier we are not big fans of cold sandwiches either, but these sandwiches were the best cold sandwiches I ever had, made them few times already since you posted them. Thanks for all the great recipes I follow you all the time. Would love to see more similar recipes to this one since its getting hotter outside, and I don’t want to hit up the house in the summer.
Anna, I have the great sandwich that I would be posting very soon. I think you’ll love it just as much as this one. Thank you for the great review :).
I love this! I am so glad you posted this recipe. We plan to make another trip to the beach in a few weeks and this will taste so great next to your Broccoli Walnut Salad I had over the weekend. I can’t wait!
I’m so happy you enjoyed that salad! Thanks for your awesome review and a picnic at the beach sounds absolutely dreamy! 🙂
I loooooove this recipe! I’m Ukrainian and my Baba used to make this sandwich for me!!! She added sliced tomatoes from her garden to it. Thank you for the nostalgic memory! I’m going to make these this weekend.
You are welcome Natalie :). Don’t you love it when food brings great memories from your childhood?
Wow Natasha! The sandwich looks so amazing. It’s a total satisfaction in just five minutes! This is so great! It’s so fresh and healthy. Yummy!
Hi Maureen and thank you! It really is total satisfaction :).
Natasha,
Love the way the featured image is taken. Holding the sandwich with both hands is so tempting. Got hungry!!
KP Kwan
Ha ha, thanks! The picture totally does the same thing to me. I get hungry every time I look at it. 🙂
I love that you added dill into the spread! We’ve been all over cilantro lately. Hubby kind of started it and now we’re obsessed with greens in our sandwiches. Love, love!
Oooh I wonder how cilantro would work in this. We love cilantro too. It makes everything taste fresher.
This looks like a great sandwich! I usually am not a sandwich fan either mostly because I hate how soggy the bread gets! I love how the cream cheese spread doesn’t infiltrate the bread!
It’s so great! It doesn’t get soggy at all but has so much flavor and is definitely not dry. Thanks Shelby!
I just made your sandwich, honestly I’ve craved it since yesterday but only had a chance to make one today; I tosted the bread a little and added all the rest and oh man! It was the bomb! Thank you for such yummilicious recipes!
Mmm toasted bread sounds even better! I’m so glad you loved it!
Wow! Looks delicious !!!
Thank you Tatyana, satisfaction in five minutes :).
Natasha,
Love taking sandwiches to work because they’re so quick and easy to put together. Will definitely try this spread next time.
What’s your go-to work sandwich? Any favorites?
I love dill in anything, so I usually just shred it with my fingers and add it to the inside of the sandwich but I love the idea of making a spread with it!
Same here. It makes food taste so fresh and good! I think it’s a little more kid friendly when mixed into the cream cheese. I think my son would pick it out otherwise 🙂
Looks yummy, will have to try.
Thank you Vera. 🙂 Enjoy!!
Adore this salami cream cheese sandwich for my daughter’s lunch! She’ll be off to school in the fall (womp womp getting teary here) and I need some lunch options that I can whip up the night before. And what kid doesn’t love salami?
I know it! My son sat on the sofa and munched on the extra salami in the evening. 🙂
Natasha, I’m sooo glad I came across your website, I find it awesome!
And this sandwich looks so delicious, I think I’ll make it today for my family.
I’m from Moldova and I really apreciate your russian/ukrainian recipes,
Best regards,
Olga
I bet our tasting food is probably very similar. I hope you love everything you try!
