Our family’s favorite classic cucumber and tomato salad just got better with the addition of avocado, a light and flavorful lemon dressing and the freshness of cilantro. Easy, excellent avocado salad.

I brought this salad to my parents house yesterday and everyone loved it! This is definitely going into the regular rotation all summer long. Think: homegrown cucumbers and tomatoes :).
Ingredients for Tomato Avocado Salad:
This salad is loaded with veggies; juicy tomatoes, crisp cucumber, creamy avocado and the cilantro and lemon juice make the whole salad so fresh and flavorful!
P.S. If you aren’t keen on cilantro, fresh dill is a good substitute
How to Make Cucumber Tomato Avocado Salad:
1. Place chopped tomatoes, sliced cucumber, sliced red onion, diced avocado, and chopped cilantro into a large salad bowl.
2. Drizzle with 2 Tbsp olive oil and 2 Tbsp lemon juice. Toss gently to combine. Just before serving toss with 1 tsp sea salt and 1/8 tsp black pepper
Avocado Salad Video Tutorial:
My husband and I ate this entire batch of cucumber tomato salad with avocado in one sitting, paired with roasted red potatoes and grilled shrimp skewers. I shoveled most of the salad into my mouth before I remembered the shrimp and potatoes on my plate; mmming and smiling all the way through. We were both smitten.
P.S. This salad is also super healthy and it fits pretty much every diet out there. Check out the nutrition label below:

This salad can be made all year long, but it’s especially delicious this time of year when cucumbers and tomatoes are in season. Do you grow any of your own food?
Omgoodness, it looks delicious and my grandbabies will gobble it up, not to mention it’s healthy!! Thank you.
It is SO GOOD! Please let me know what you think when you decide to make it. 🙂
I’m trying this for the first time. How long will this last? Like can I make it a day in advance and how long will it keep in the fridge?
Hi Jessica, I think it’s best fresh (vibrant & crisp) but I’ve had readers report great results with leftovers the next day. I haven’t tested it beyond that since it always gets eaten so quickly!
Refreshing and delicious!
Thank you Robin! I’m so glad you liked it 🙂
I just made this salad but I added mini mozzarella pearls. Such a great salad since I’m eating healthier Neal choices.
Yum! That sounds like a great addition! Thanks for sharing April 🙂
So perfectly, simply dee-lish! I omitted the cilantro (wasn’t in the pantry). And I marinated the onion in vinegar for about twenty minutes. I’m not a huge onion fan and I find that marinating it takes the bite off. Next time I’m just going to make this salad, get a nice loaf of crusty, French bread and have at it!
Yum! That sounds good! Thanks for sharing Alja 🙂
Alja, I’ve found that – instead of marinating the onions, just soak them in cold water for about 30 minutes and then drain well. It takes the bite off of them and doesn’t add any extra flavor.
Loved this!! I made it for superbowl as a salsa with ships just cut it up smaller and added more avocado! It was a hit. Everyone loved it! Thank you
You’re welcome Tonya! That’s such a great idea! Thanks for sharing 🙂
Love this salad. So fresh and delicious and so easy!
I am so glad you enjoy the recipe Pam!
We were invited to our friends’ house for dinner, we brought this to go alongside their steak enchiladas. Fantastic! I didn’t alter it at all, though I did accidentally forget the oil.
I just made this for my lunch tomorrow. This is so yummy! I’m hoping it will hold up for tomorrow as it’s delicious.
It is so yummy! Thank you for sharing your review!
Used rocket salad and red sweet pepper instead of the cucumber- great!
Mmmm, that sounds good! Thank you for sharing 🙂
Absolutely loved the salad. Thanks.
I’m so glad you enjoyed it!! 🙂
can you replace the cucumber with bell peppers maybe?
Hi Glenda, I think that could work 🙂
Is Cilantro the same as Coriander ?
Hi Justine, coriander is the seed of cilantro, so if you plant coriander seeds, leafy green cilantro will grow :). Cilantro looks like parsley but has a very different flavor. I think fresh dill or evenly a little finely chopped parsley would work ok with this recipe.
Yes it is!
Do you know how long this salad is good in the refrigerator? I’d like to make some up for my work lunches, but don’t want any to bad. Looks so yummy & I’m excited to try it!!
Hi Lisa, I think it’s best fresh but I’ve had readers report great results with leftovers the next day. I haven’t tested it beyond that since it always gets eaten so quickly! 🙂
But tomatoes get mealy when refrigerated.
I agree, it’s best to eat it fresh but that is the only way to store this leftover salad.
My sister in law made this for me when she did my hair. Amazing!! She added feta cheese to it. OMG!!
Layni, thank you for such a nice review, I’m all smiles 😀
hi natasha, do you think i could add romaine lettuce to this salad as well? would it go well in this recipe?
Hi Mel, you know – I think it would work well. I made my shrimp salad in a similar way (which is really amazing by the way) 🙂
Just fabulous!
Thank you Ernesto 😀.
Thank you so much for the most amazings recipes you share with us.i like every single recipe I tried and this salad is beyond any expectations.I tried dill and was very good and refreshing.
Ligy, thank you for such a sweet comment, I’m all smiles 😁.
Wow
Why English Cucumber?
Hi Mona, any cucumber would work fine. The waxy ones should be peeled before adding or you can add the little cucumbers. I just wrote that in for standard sizing of cucumbers so others know how much I used in the recipe 🙂
