The Mr. and I made a goal to purposefully use more seasonal fruits and veggies this year. We’ve been coming up with all kinds of ways to use up the peaches from mom’s tree.
We re-visited and updated the Peach apricot crumble recipe, you probably saw the lattice peach pie, and now this. Although there weren’t a ton of them, the peaches seemed extra big and super juicy this year. They were delicious in this salsa.
I like that peach salsa is a little less acidic than a regular tomato salsa. Not only is it delicious as an appetizer with tortilla chips, it’s also really good as a topping for fish or pork; who would have thought?
Ingredients for Peach Salsa
1 lb tomatoes, diced
1 bell pepper (4 oz), seeded and finely diced
2 jalapenos, seeded and finely diced
1 medium onion, finely diced
1 1/2 lbs peaches, diced
1/2 bunch cilantro, chopped
2 Tbsp lime juice
1/2 tsp salt, or to taste
1/4 tsp freshly ground black pepper or to taste
How To Make Fresh Peach Salsa Recipe:
1. Chop tomatoes and transfer them to a large bowl (yep, thats the Vidalia Chop Wizard; it made this salsa so easy!).
2. Finely chop seeded bell pepper and jalapeños. Finely chop onion and transfer all your veggies to the bowl.
3. Dice the peaches. I liked the slightly larger dice for peaches to give them more of the center stage in this salsa. No need to peel them. You won’t notice the peels and the color is prettier with the peel on. Transfer peaches to your bowl.
4. Add 1/2 bunch Chopped cilantro, 2 Tbsp lime juice, 1 1/2 tsp salt and 1/4 tsp pepper. Add more salt and pepper to taste if desired. Fold everything together until well mixed and enjoy with your favorite tortilla chips or serve with fish or pork.

What’s your favorite salsa?
Realizing that tomatoes and peaches come in different sizes, I am still wondering approx how many – say medium sized – tomatoes and peaches would be one lb?
Hi Dawn, the photo beneath the list of ingredients will be a good visual guide for what goes into the recipe. The tomatoes photographed there are the same as roma tomatoes.
Way too bland; kick up the heat with 3-4 jalapeños.
Thank you for sharing that with us.
Thank you Natasha! This is a wonderful recipe. Made this salsa today. We absolutely LOVED it. I tasted it as per the instructions, with no changes, and it was yummy. However, I sprinkled a pinch of chili powder on some that I had dipped onto a tortilla chip. I must say, it took your recipe to a different level for us. So, the only addition I added was 1/2 teaspoon of chili powder. Thank you again for your original recipe! Regardless of my addition, it is a WINNER for sure!!
That’s just awesome!! Thank you for sharing your wonderful review and those changes with us.
Really delicious! We held a taste taste of four different homemade salsas. This was the hands down winner.
That’s so great Stephanie! Thank you for that awesome review!
Does this freeze well?
Hi Kate, I have not tested freezing this recipe. If you experiment please let me know how you this recipe.
This sounds amazing! I’m currently on the hcg diet, and this sounds amazing!! Making blackened mahi-mahi for dinner with this as an accompaniment. I also think this would pair well with grilled chicken!
I hope you love this recipe Kate!
This looks terrific…..I’m wondering how well this would can in a water bath?
Hi Trish, I honestly haven’t tried canning this recipe so I’m not sure if it has enough acidity to preserve well.
Maybe someone else has tried?? if so, please share your results with us (thanks in advance!) 🙂
I may just try a few jars this weekend as I’m getting a 1/2 bushel of fresh Utah peaches. Will probably increase the acid using lime juice and offset the tart by using honey. I’ll let you know how it turns out
Hi Trish! I’d love to hear all about it!
Trish,
Did you have any luck with the water bath?
Unbelievably good
I’m so glad you enjoyed it!
I think it would need another couple tablespoons of lime juice or vinegar to be safe.
Really lovely salsa, thank you!
You’re so welcome! Enjoy!
How long does this last on fridge?
Hi Dara, it is great for a couple of days and tends to get soft after that. I hope you love the peach salsa!
This all looks so good and we have lots of fresh peaches. I have an aversion to the taste of cilantro. Any recommendations for a substitute? Can I leave out the jalapeño?
That is pretty common Lauri! Several our readers have tried this with parsley and love it! Hope this helps!
I’m using fresh basil. I also use it in tomato salsa instead of cilantro.
Do you think I could use lemons instead of limes?
I’ve always had it with lime. If you try this with lemon please let us know how you liked it.
Made your peach salsa using a Vidalia Chop Wizard.
The recipe is terrific.
However, liquid accumulated in the mixing bowl, although I added no liquid to the recipe.
Any thoughts about this?
Hi Dennis! The only thing I can think of maybe the juices of the fruits running out after using the chop wizard? The Chop wizard crushes the fruit some what besides cutting it of course so that squeeze could’ve provided those extra juices. We also add lime juice to this recipe. Did the water appear instantly or after sitting there?
Wow, very interesting recipe. Love the peaches & the contrast.
Thank you Ben!
Whoa, that is such a cool method of preparing this salsa recipe. I made different types of salsa but never tried with peaches. Your photos are absolutely gorgeous…lip-smacking gorgeous. Can’t wait to make this recipe
Thank you Lindy! This recipe tastes as good as it looks! I hope you love it!
How long would this last in the fridge?
Hi Meg, I would say about a day or two. It depends on how fresh your ingredients were when you started.
Absolutely delicious! We made the recipe exactly as written and enjoyed every bite. It was a little too spicy for the kids but the amount of jalapeño can easily be changed!! The adults gobbled it up. 😃
I’m glad to hear that everyone enjoyed the recipe! I leave out jalapenos for the kiddos as well! Thanks for sharing your great review Amy!
This was wonderful!!!! What a GREAT recipe! The only change I made was omitting the cilantro.
I’m glad you love the recipe Heather! Thanks for sharing your great review! 😀
Excellent recipe! And for those who don’t cilantro, I substituted parsley, and it tastes great!
I’m glad to hear that Jeff! Thanks for sharing your tip and review!
Great recipe! I made this at least 3 times during the last month, and came home with an empty bowl every time!! My friends have requested I make this every time I come to their house from now on!! I also used orange bell peppers, because my kids don’t like bell peppers, so orange is very easy to hide. Also used heirloom tomatoes for the same reason. This is now our new family favorite, bell peppers and all.
Marion, thank you for sharing such a nice review with us 😀. We had lots of peaches this year so this salsa was made at least once a week 😋.
Can this recipe be canned? Debbie
Hi Debbie, I haven’t tried canning it but I imagine it would need to be cooked in order to can properly/safely.
So delicious! What a great recipe!
Thank you Lynn, I’m so happy you enjoyed it 😁.
