Is it possible to make ahead for a party and store without dressing? Reply

Hi Jackie, you can make it a day ahead (although I always thought it was the very best the same day since refrigerating tomatoes is not ideal), I would add the dressing but omit the salt. You want the lemon juice to preserve the avocado overnight but the salt will cause the salad to get juicy. Also, cover with plastic wrap directly over the surface of the salad to keep the air out which can cause the avocados to brown faster. Reply

Hi Sarah, we always finish it the same day but I’ve had several readers report that they loved it just as much the next day πŸ™‚ The lemon juice will preserve the avocado. Reply

I made the salad, it was delicious! My husband and son told me many times that night how good the salad was for dinner. Be sure to you fresh lemon juice. The avocado adds so much, don’t skimp. Planning to make it again, bought the ingredients today. Yumm!! Reply

My boyfriend rarely compliments me on my cooking, because I’m not as creative as he is in the kitchen. But I have to share his text after I made this salad last night:

“Thank you for making the salad btw. Tasty. Had some last night.”

He said tasty! I couldn’t agree more. Not only was it fun and simple to make, but I felt great after having it too! This has only inspired me to continue trying new recipes from your website. Everything looks amazing.

    Thanks for sharing! Reply

This is how I’ve been making my salad for many years now. Except for the cilantro – I so much want to like it because I like everything green, but I just can’t (That doesn’t stop me from growing it in my garden, though). Instead, as some other reviewers, I use giant Italian parsley with just a hint of mint – I like a twist here and there. Excellent recipe! Reply

Dill has very different role in our region (The Balkans). Primarily we associate it with tzatziki, tarator, yogurt and sometimes lettuce. If you haven’t already, have a look at authentic Shopska salad (with roasted green peppers). You won’t be disappointed. Reply
