What Kind of Tuna is Best for Tuna Salad?
We used drained Solid White Albacore Tuna in oil for more flavor and it seems to hold its form better, but you can substitute for well-drained tuna in water if you prefer.
Make-Ahead Tip: Once you add salt, the salad should be enjoyed within 3 hours of making, or the cucumbers start to lose their crispness. To prep the salad in advance, combine all of the ingredients except the salt, cover and refrigerate. Season with salt just before serving.

Does this keep well in fridge throughout the week? Thank you!
Hi Barrett, I would say not to make it more than 2 days ahead. The lemon juice will preserve the avocados and keep them looking fresh overnight but probably not much beyond that.
First time making this tuna salad today and it exceeded my expectations! I will keep this forever and share with my friends. I trust your recipes Natasha because every recipe I’ve tried has been a winner 🏆 Be blessed!
Yay, thanks for the awesome review! It always makes me smile when I see great feedback.
This was ridiculously simple and tasty. I made the recipe as written except I didn’t add the extra oil and I added hearts of palm, which I had on hand and wasn’t sure what to do with. The hearts of palm worked SO well. 10/10 will make again.
Hi Christine! That’s wonderful. I’m so glad you loved the recipe. Thank you for sharing.

I am not a fan of cilantro. What other herbs would you use in replacement of the cilantro? Looks good and will be making it this week. Adding ingredients to my shopping list right now!
Hi Alexia! You could use another fresh herb of your preference. Parsley and Dill seem to be the most common replacements. I hope you love the recipe! 🙂
This is so freaking good. Added a splash of balsamic and am eating on toast. Quickly. The combo of a bit of oil and avocado takes away the need for mayo completely.
Yum! I’m so happy you enjoyed that. Thank you for sharing that with us, Megan!
I am making this for dinner tonight and lunch tomorrow. This will be the 3rd time I have made it. I do ad 2 extra avocados because my husband likes it better that way. This is a great recipe and great right now that avocados are in season.
I’m so happy you enjoyed that. Thank you for sharing that with us, Linda!
