Radishes Are Nutritious
Did you know radishes are nutritious? They are rich in Vitamin C, Folic Acid and Potassium. See the estimated nutrition label in the recipe card below.
Ingredients for Cucumber Radish Salad:
There are literally 3 ingredients in this radish salad and 2 ingredients in the dressing (including salt!) I know what you’re thinking; WOAH – that can’t be all?! My Mother has been making this recipe since I was a child and sometimes a classic recipe doesn’t need any improvement.
Cook’s Tip: Stir the sour cream dressing into the salad just before serving. The longer it sits, the more liquid the dressing becomes as the salt causes the cucumber to release some juice. But I guarantee you’ll use a spoon to gather any extra juice left behind. It’s so yummy!

Radishes also have a very satisfying crunch; Mmm! I love that this simple sour cream dressing neutralizes the radishes slight pungent flavor and enhances their sweetness. I was impressed when my 4 year old ate and enjoyed this radish and cucumber salad.

Almost making the same salad but instead of cucumbers I usually add hard boiling eggs. Turns out great as well… Try it…
Thanks for sharing. I will try it soon.
Thank you for the tip, I should give it a try 😀.
Z-S, you are giving me the idea to add hard-boiled eggs to this recipe if I want a meal out of it, since both cucumbers and radishes are great with eggs.
I’ve been craving it since morning yesterday. So i made it for lunch, when my girls came back from school. All my family loved it! i’m same way: it takes me back to childhood in Ukraine:) ! And my kindergartener said it was her best salad EVER!!!

Hey Natasha, have you ever tried adding boiled eggs to the salad?! It’s sooo good! 🙂
I haven’t tried it but that is a great suggestion. Thank you!
Hi Natasha! Just wanted to say that the best part of this recipe was the scripture at the end!!!! 🌺. 😉
I’m glad you liked it. 🙂 Thanks Lisa!
Wonderful salad. I grew up on this recipe (my Mom is of Lithuanian descent). To solve the issue of the salad becoming liquidy is to salt the cucs and let them sit for awhile, drain, then continue with the recipe. I also add some pepper and a tad of lemon juice. My family continues to make this salad for Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners.
wonderful! Thanks for sharing your tip! 🙂
Thank you for sharing your recipe! I was just looking in my fridge and I saw a cucumbers and radishes I need to use. I’m excited to try this recipe. Bless you!
Let me know how you like the salad, I hope you’ll love it :).
Hi Natasha,
i made i this Tuesday. Thanks for reminding about this recipe. I did not make it for ages, but it is simple, nutritious and so quick and easy to make.
Очень вкусный и давно позабытый 🙂 . Спасибо еще раз!
You’re so welcome! I’m happy you enjoyed it 🙂
I’m currently on my 5th time making this salad. It is SO delicious! I came across it while researching Ukranian recipes (I’m half Ukranian, but not many food traditions were passed down in my family). Love your blog and recipes. Thank you!
I’m so happy to hear you love the salad 🙂 Thanks Michele!
Made this salad along with cabbage fried rice today. Yumm!
Yum that sounds like a really yummy combination! I already ate dinner and now I’m hungry again! 🙂
It’s so interesting reading everyone’s comment! The ingredients are so simple, so common, yet everyone remembers it from their childhood.
For a party couple weeks ago, I combined this & the Creamy Cucumber Tomato Salad. Without me telling him beforehand, my friend (originally from Ukraine) immediately identified that “May made the Ukrainian Salad”! & proclaimed it’s his “favorite”. 😉
I used 50-50 of Smetana & Kefir yogurt (I cultivated my own Kefir & just drained to thicken it), & add dill instead of scallions.
Thanks for sharing your version and story :-). I love food stories!
Dear Natasha,
I really like the radish and cucumber salad. First, I Pinned it then I tried it. It’s very yummy and my parents liked it. That is important. I will be trying other salads and the creamy chicken and rice.
Thanks, Patricia
Thank you so much for the great review and welcome to my blog :-). The rice has been very popular! Rave reviews across the board! I hope you love it too.
YUMMMMM! I love this stuff! I had no idea that this salad was popular in your region, as well. In Macedonia, we eat it by the buckets! 😀
I think we probably have alot of these salads in common! 🙂 It must be because they are just incredibly good! 🙂
this salad looks delicious, never tried it before,i will try 2 make it one day, speicaly when u have our own garden u can make all kinds of salads.Natasha do u have a recipe for tuna salad with pasta?
I have something similar with canned chicken and pasta. It’s so simple but my family loves it! 😉 I bet you could make a tuna salad and use it instead. One of the first recipes I ever posted 🙂 https://natashaskitchen.com/2009/12/10/old-school-egg-noodles-with-chicken-and-mayo/
Thanx Natasha !!! Retcepti supper !!!!!!
Made this for the first time last week – was really good!
Made it again for Mothers Day tweaked with a bit of white pepper, fresh dill and strained Greek yogurt (with a touch or cornstarch to match the texture) in place of the sour cream.
Definitely an add to our summer salad repertoire!
That’s fantastic! Thanks for sharing your Greek yogurt version. I’m sure others are curious about using it and now I want to try it as well! 🙂 I’m so glad you enjoyed it 🙂
I often sub Greek yogurt for 50% of the mayo or sour cream called for in recipes.. I’m curious what the cornstarch does and what the ratio is? Never heard of that before and would love to try!
