Arugula Salad loaded with strawberries, blueberries, creamy goat cheese and drizzled with the best balsamic glaze! The Arugula Beet Salad is our go-to in winter, but this Arugula Berry Salad is the most requested spring and summer salad.
We love fruit in salad like our Winter Fruit Salad, and Autumn Chicken and Pear Salad. Fresh Arugula with juicy berries is a winning combination!

Arugula Salad Recipe:
My sister, Alla, got the inspiration from the Arugula Berry Salad at Blaze Pizza (our favorite pizza place) and she re-created it, over and over and over. Arugula Salad has just 5 ingredients, takes no time at all, has wonderful flavor, and always disappears fast.
What is Arugula?
Arugula is a leafy green vegetable known for its fresh, peppery and lightly bitter flavor notes. It has a high nutrient density* similar to broccoli, kale and Brussels sprouts. It’s also an immune boosting food, rich in antioxidants. 1 cup of arugula contains:
- 10% Vitamin A
- 28% Vitamin K
- 4% of your daily Vitamin C, Folate and Calcium
Baby arugula is harvested young and has a more delicate flavor (less bitter). Arugula should be stored in the refrigerator and used within a few days of purchasing. We have found the longer it sits in the refrigerator, the more bitter it becomes.
Can I Substitute Goat Cheese?
Before you substitute, please try the recipe as written. In the right recipe, goat cheese (also known as “Chevre”) offers tangy gourmet flavor with a creamy texture that can’t be beat. We like the Kirkland Signature brand goat cheese from Costco (plain/unflavored). If you aren’t able to find goat cheese, feta would be the next best thing. P.S. If you love goat cheese, our roasted pepper bruschetta is a must try!
How to Make Arugula Salad with Berries:
This salad couldn’t be easier. We suggest leaving the bottle of balsamic glaze next to the salad in case your crew may want a little extra.
- Place baby arugula in a large salad bowl
- Top with sliced strawberries and whole blueberries
- Sprinkle on goat cheese and drizzle with balsamic glaze
The Best Balsamic Glaze:
Homemade Balsamic Glaze is best. It requires just 2 ingredients and 15 minutes to make. If you want an even quicker version of this salad, we love Nonna Pia’s Balsamic Glaze. This is NOT a paid promotion. I’m careful about recommending a pre-made “dressing” but seriously this one is good. We found it at Fred Meyer and Costco. I equally love their “Classic” and “Strawberry Fig” varieties. The “classic” has just 2 ingredients: Balsamic vinegar of Modena Italy and non GMO sugar.
I just want to remind you that this is NOT a paid promotion. I’m completely smitten with this product and everyone should have a bottle in their fridge. The End.

I hope this simple and super yummy Arugula Salad Recipe becomes a new favorite for you! It’s special enough to include in the Easter menu and easy enough for every day.

I absolutely love to watch you cook you are so funny and your recipes are yummy
I’m diabetic so I appreciate your lighter dishes I’m addicted to the avocado mango salad but I’m also excited to see some soups for fall…..
Thank you for that wonderful compliment! I’m so glad you’re enjoying our recipes!
I’m sorry but it was a “never going to eat again” dish. That’s not necessarily a criticism of the recipe itself, but of the ingredients. I’ve never previously tried arugula or balsamic glaze, but after trying this recipe that sounded so refreshing for a summer dinner, I don’t want to eat either one again. I did manage to eat the strawberries by themselves 🙁 I’m not sure how anyone eats arugula but I guess it’s an acquired taste. The arugula is just too bitter (even baby arugula) and the balsamic glaze, holy moly, that is stroooong.
Hi, I’m sorry to hear you didn’t enjoy it – this is one we make on the regular at our house. You definitely only want to use as much balsamic glaze as you need – which is a drizzle – it is a concentrated syrup so a little goes a long way. Also, sometimes arugula gets bitter if it sits too long (in your fridge or at the grocery store). It starts getting a little lighter in color and that is a bad sign. It could be that you got an extra bitter batch of greens which could definitely ruin a good salad.
Hi, Arugula has a bright pepper taste and not everyone enjoys. I hated it until a friend asked me to try a small amount dressed in a touch of lemon juice s/p on top of a piece of cheese pizza. Now the only way I’ll eat pizza. Good luck.
Thank you so much for sharing that with me!
Lovely salad! Delish! ❤️❤️
I’m so happy you enjoyed that Diana!
Natasha, I enjoyed very much the Caesar Pasta Salad and Arugula with berries. Wow
I’m so happy you enjoyed that. Thank you for sharing that with us!
Hi Natasha, I am a big fan of your simple yet amazing recipes.
Quick question, can I use chaved Parmesan cheese instead? Maybe add some roasted almonds?
Thank you
Hi Bahia, I think the shaved parmesan might conflict with goat cheese so I would leave it out, but roasted sliced almonds sound great!
Very nice. Thanks.
You’re so welcome! I’m happy you enjoyed that!
is it ok to replace goat cheese by feta?
Hi Rita, I have a note on that above under the subsection: “Can I Substitute Goat Cheese?”
*We love Nonna Pia’s brand of balsamic glaze. Their “classic” or “strawberry fig” varieties work equally well in this recipe.
I love fruit and sweet taste…. can you comment on these choices and describe their flavors??
Hi Leta, I tasted them side by side and they both had a fruity quality to them honestly and I have used both and loved them equally. If you have both available, and prefer a fruity flavor, go with the strawberry fig 🙂 They truly are both excellent.
I’m scared to buy them and not like them… the only experience I have with balsamic vinegar is mixing it with olive oil and dipping bread in it… can’t quite wrap my mind around balsamic vinegar and fruit salad
A balsamic glaze is a bit different because it’s been reduced with sugar so it’s a sweeter, thicker glaze and not as pungent as a plain balsamic vinegar.
Well, one can always take a plunge being adventurous… or not 😜
Dang!! Forgot to take a pic but we loved the salad. I’m really trying to purposefully make more fresh, healthy food for my family. We’ve got a couple of health conditions going on that are really impacted by diet so I’m always on the lookout for recipes like this.
My Aldis has a 50/50 arugula/spinach mix and I used that. Also added a few walnuts for crunch. Really nice, light healthy salad that even my “biggest challenge” 😀 loved. Thx so much Natasha. Happy Easter, sweetie. Keep up the good work.
I’m so happy to hear you enjoyed that Gretchen! Thank you for sharing your great review!
I live in Australia and have never heard or seen it anywhere, what else can I try please Natasha 🙂
Hi Heather! Are you referring to the dressing?
Hello Heather, Natasha has provided you with the recipe “How to make Homemade Balsamic Glaze” just click the Red letters found in the Balsamic Glaze info above. Or go directly to the Pioneer Woman’s site
Where can you buy that dressing other than Amazon? What stores carry it?
Hi Robin, Fred Meyer and Costco carry it so I am assuming most large chain grocery stores should stock it.
I decided to try this but I think I am not the biggest fan of arugula . It is so spiccyyyyyy! But it was a beautiful salad and one of the kids did enjoy it .
Hi Anna, arugula does give off a “peppery” taste. If the arugula is fresh is should be less “spicy”. We love how simple it is to throw this together if you experiment with other greens, we would love to know how you like that!
Hi AG, try using a baby arugula and the fresher the better which tends to be less peppery.
This looks absolutely amazing! So fresh and love the added balsamic glaze!
I’m so happy you enjoyed that Taylor! Thank you for that awesome review!
