Favorites
For those of you who are new to this site and are feeling a little overwhelmed, I thought I’d start a list of my absolute favorite recipes – those that I recommend you try first. And BTW, let me know what your favorites are!!
This list will probably change over time as I post more recipes and discover new favorites! First, I thought it only appropriate to add a random photo of my sisters and I enjoying the Fish Tacos from our Cookbook photoshoot.

Natasha,
My birthday is coming up and I wanted to bake one of your cakes. I made most of them but am torn on which one to make. In your opinion, which cake is the tastiest?
I see your b-day is also close by….which one will you make?
Have you tried the new chocolate spartak? It’s definitely a family favorite!
I haven’t but I’m def excited to try it. Thanks! I will let you know how it turns out.
Hi! I love your website! Thank you so much for adding pictures to the recipes! That’s the best part!!:) keep ’em coming:))
Thank you Lilly! 🙂
Hi Natasha,
I just found your blog, and I really like it. I also showed it to my dad who is fan of cooking (we both are) and he really like your recepies too. The thing is that I had to translate them for him. Would you ever consider making some recepies in Russian?
Welcome to my blog Lily. I don’t see myself making recipes in Russian. If you use Internet Explorer, right click anywhere on the text and select “Translate with Bing”, pick Russian and the entire page will be translated without you doing any of the work. Let me know if you have any more questions 🙂
Hi,
My fav has to be Olivye. But originally I wanted to say Grenky (spelling) or Russian Cherry/Apple Pancakes. Yum.Sadly I can’t eat those anymore. That is why I wrote Olivye.Smiles.
I also wanted to mention that I make tuna salad once or twice a month. I tried searching your blog but could not find a tuna salad recipe. I make tuna salad with 2 cans of tuna, 1 green onion, 2 eggs, and Vegenaise. Sometimes I make it without the onion. Do you have a tuna salad recipe? Thanks for reading. Have a good day.
best,

I love your site and I have to tell you I love to see you giving God glory. Good for you and good for us Christians to have you. I would love to see an authentic Ukraine Borsch recipe. I have tried a few but cannot get it to taste like it should taste. Or maybe it just tasted better when I was in Ukraine? Thank you and good luck with your nursing. I just started my masters program in business, a lot of work.
Thank you Sue – your words are very encouraging! I posted a Ukrainian Borsch/ Russian Borsche (borsch is borsch 🙂 I’m planning to post something a little easier based on tips some of my readers have posted in the comments, but I still have to develop that recipe. Here’s a link to the recipe for: Borscht. It’s the recipe I make at home and we love it!! It’s hearty and a deep red color – loads of flavor. Hope you enjoy it! God bless you in your masters program. I have a nice list of scriptures on my school notebook that really help me when I’m feeling overwhelmed: Prov 3:5-6, Deut 31:6, Is 41:10, Is 41:13, 2 Tim 41:13, Heb 13:5-6.
love your kitchen!!! thanks for the ideas!!!
yeah sure, maybe mention the traditional fruits used and then go for frozen berries? thanks!
i cant wait to see it! and try it hehe
hey natasha!
i was wondering if you could post a recipe on how to
do fruit compote. i perfer this to juice and thought you might know how to do it?
thanks
I will post it. I just have to think of what fruit to use since berries and plums aren’t really in season anymore. Maybe I’ll try frozen berries?
i used to buy cranberry and raspberry frozen juice from winco which we couldnt get enough of it was so yummy. then once we were out at home and wanted some but remebered we had frozen cranberries and raspberries at home so made compot added sugar and it was very good, now our new fav. we only make that kind lol we stock up on cranberries and freeze them around christmas and new yrs thats the only time they have them at stores, so give it a try.
That does sound good. I love cranberry juice! Never thought about making my own! So raw cranberries + frozen raspberries + sugar would work well? About how much of each for a soup pot of compot?
well for a large pot (8qt) i use half the bag of cranberry which is 6 0z and frozen raspberry about a handfull, dont need much and about 1 1/2 – 2 cups max. sugar but that is up to everyone cus some like it sweet some not too sweet, but 1 would do 1.5 cups and see how it is to ur taste. also remeber that when compot cools down it becomes more sweet. i just made some today and i didnt have frozen raspberries but i used my rasberry mixed with sugar varenie tastes great as well, just added a little less sugar cus raspberry was already mixed with sugar and i only did 3 tbs of raspberry varenie and u can really taste the raspberry already. cook till color turns to red and cranberries will be popping so be careful so they done burn u. let it cool, drain into a pitcher from all the berries, enjoy! i reserve the berries and eat them lol i never let my cranberries go to waste gotta get all the vitamins i can 🙂
Luda, thank you so much. I’ll definitely have to try this next time I see cranberries at the store.
