Favorites
For those of you who are new to this site and are feeling a little overwhelmed, I thought I’d start a list of my absolute favorite recipes – those that I recommend you try first. And BTW, let me know what your favorites are!!
This list will probably change over time as I post more recipes and discover new favorites! First, I thought it only appropriate to add a random photo of my sisters and I enjoying the Fish Tacos from our Cookbook photoshoot.

do you by any chance have a recipe for a breakfast i dont know what its called but its like egg creamcheese bread and raspberries?
I don’t think so. Have you checked out my breakfast page? https://natashaskitchen.com/breakfast/
Natasha, your dinner tab is not loading today. I am trying to make the braised potatoes with pork, its playing tricks on me.
I’m sorry you’re having trouble. We were having trouble with the site note loading properly in Safari and Internet Explorer but that should be resolved now. Which browser are you using? Try clearing your browsing history and hitting refresh. If you are still having trouble, please let me know (since we’re hoping the problem is fixed but definitely want to know if it’s not). Thanks so much! 🙂 Here is a direct link to the potatoes: https://natashaskitchen.com/2013/01/30/braised-potatoes-with-pork/
Can you post a recipe for momaliga??
I’ve never heard of Momaliga. What is it exactly? Maybe we call it something different?
ciao Natasha i love ur site and admire ur work

i have a question and is really really important i live in Switzerland and i have a russian family who are asking me to prepare them a russian post christmas meal
i went through internet for a month now but everything seem so random and dishes are mainly from all east europe and not truly russian can you pls help me with this
thx a million
I’m not sure what a Russian post Christmas meal is. I’m familiar with traditional Russian Christmas dishes, but not post-Christmas. I do have tons of traditional Russian dishes. Can you be more specific?
is the diner after the fasting the feast after the dishes that contains meat
thx
I’m not sure which recipe you’re referring to, but I can ask around. Sorry, I can’t be more helpful.
my anniversary is coming up and i want to cook a fantasic meal but im not a good cook. do you know any simple but awsome meals.
For a one-pot type of meal, this has been really popular although it’s not the simplest: https://natashaskitchen.com/2014/06/26/creamy-chicken-and-rice-recipe-a-one-pot-meal/. Are you looking for pasta, rice, potatoes??
I have enjoyed reading all of the different dishes and I am excited to try some one my own.
I hope you love everything you try! 🙂
Hi, i love your website and the recipes are just amazing!!!
for my school cooking class i have to have a 5 Dish Dinner Party made for my family. i have to make an appetizer, side dish, main dish, soup/salad and a dessert. i was wondering of you could give me some ideas on what i can make that will be easy, inexpensive and delicious. Thank you.
Oh, tough question! 🙂 Does it have to be Russian/Ukrainian food or anything?
It can be anything. but i would prefer Ukranian/Russian foods becauase the meal is for my family and they would like some of their home town foods.
For an appetizer: smoked salmon tea sandwiches, Broccoli Grape Salad, Chicken mushroom casserole for meat and Garlic Chive Potatoes. For dessert, it really depends on how much time you have to make it! 🙂 It’s really hard to make a list with over 400 recipes here 🙂
Thank you so much!! i will try them and tell you how my family and my teacher likes it 🙂
My son is studying Russia for International Day at his school this year. We have to provide a traditional Russian dish for the classroom buffet. Could you please recommend some recipes that are easy to do in large batches and not too expensive to make a lot of? I found a lemon cake on wikipedia called “Lymonnyk” but there is no recipe here.
Thank you!
You’re right! I don’t have a lymonnyk recipe yet, but it sounds very interesting! Have you tried any of the canapes?

Hi! Our family is going to be hosting a Ukrainian orphan for a month this Christmas. Am I safe in assuming that everything on your site is Russian or Ukrainian in origin or would at least be familiar to her? I’d like to make sure she gets some familiar food while she’s here!! Any suggestions would be great!!!
About 60% if them are. Plov is a staple and kind of a comfort food. Let me know if you have questions about specific recipes.
Слава Богу за тебя Наташенька! 🙂
I am so thankful to God I came upon your website! I thought I could never make a cake – and now after 2 years of marriage 😉 I made 2 of your delicious cakes in 1 week! 😉 may God continue to bless you and work through you in many ways!

Do you saute them up or how do you reheat them?

I made your creamhorn recipe for some friends and some more for the neighborhood “supper club” we have going here. Everyone was stunned. Told me to get back to my kitchen and make more!!
I actually thought that it was so simple and easy to make and at the same time delicious it seems strange I hadn’t seen them before. Thanks so much for posting it.
Thanks for reporting back. Sounds like you just found a new favorite!
I was wondering if you know how to make Графские развалины? (Grafskiy razvaliniy). Thanks 🙂
I currently don’t have the recipe, but will add it to my recipes to try :).
Hi, Natasha,
I love your website. I feel like it would be a great idea to translate it to Russian and Ukrainian. Any plans to translate?
No, not at this time. I would recommend google translate if you need it translated.
Natash I just love your website thanks good job
I am looking for a recipe for piroshki like the one they have at Russian Restaurants. It is fried and filled with meat or mushrooms or cabbage. The dough is like a savoury doughnut. Hope you can help. Thanks, Ian
Search “piroshki” on the site anf you will find recipes for piroshki with meat, piroshki with potatoes and piroshki with apples. Hope you love them!
